Crawford-Jean averages 1.071M viewers on HBO; Golovkin-Lemieux 797K average in replay
By Dan Ambrose: In a sign that WBO light welterweight champion Terence Crawford (27-0, 19 KOs) might not be a good option for Manny Pacquiao’s April 9th fight, Crawford’s fight last Saturday against #6 WBO Dierry Jean (29-2, 20 KOs) averaged only 1.071 million with a peak of 1.2 million on HBO Championship Boxing, according to Dan Rafael.
The Crawford vs. Jean fight did only slightly better than the replay of the Gennady Golovkin vs. David Lemieux fight on HBO, which brought in an average of 797,000 viewers with a peak of 1 million. The co-feature replay of Roman Gonzalez vs. Brian Viloria averaged 505,000 with a peak of 685,000.
Pacquiao hits harder and is faster than Crawford, says Dierry Jean
By Dan Ambrose: According to knockout victim Dierry Jean (29-2, 20 KOs), Manny Pacquiao is both faster and hits harder than WBO light welterweight champion Terence Crawford (27-0, 19 KOs), who scored a 10th round TKO last Saturday night over Jean on HBO from the CenturyLink Center in Omaha, Nebraska.
The 33-year-old Jean recently worked as a sparring partner for Pacquiao to help him get ready for his May 2nd fight against Floyd Mayweather Jr. earlier this year. During the sparring sessions with Pacquiao, the 5’6” Jean got to know how good he is and what he’s still capable of doing.
Crawford: I’m ready to fight Pacquiao
By Chris Williams: It looks like Top Rank promoter Bob Arum is on the verge of cashing out with the aging lion Manny Pacquiao by feeding him to WBO light welterweight champion Terence Crawford (27-0, 19 KOs) to tear himself bits next April. I knew it was going to happen and it looks like I could be right.
Instead of the 83-year-old Arum having Pacquiao ride off into retirement with a relative sure thing win by putting him in with the likes of Brandon Rios, Amir Khan or Tim Bradley for a good payday, it looks like Arum is going to feed the Filipino to Crawford for him to be the sacrificial lamb that is fed to the hungry lion.
Crawford defeats Jean; is Pacquiao next? – results
By Jim Dower: WBO light welterweight champion Terence Crawford (27-0, 19 KOs) successfully defended his title on Saturday night in beating #6 WBO contender Dierry Jean (29-2, 2O KOs) by a 10th round knockout on HBO Championship Boxing at the CenturyLink Center in Omaha, Nebraska. The fight was halted after the bigger Crawford knocked the smaller 5’6″ Jean into the ropes. Referee Tony Weeks then stepped in and halted the contest at 2:30 of the 10th.
Crawford knocked Jean down three times in the fight in dropping him once in the 1st, 9th and 10th rounds. Jean moved up from the lightweight division to take the fight, and the size difference between them was pretty dramatic. To show you how much of a mismatch it was, Crawford fought out of the southpaw stance the entire fight.

By Allan Fox: WBO light welterweight champion Terence Crawford (26-0, 18 KOs) expects to make an example of #6 WBO 140lb contender tonight in their fight on HBO Championship Boxing from the CenturyLink Center, in Omaha, Nebraska.
Crawford, 28, can’t lose this fight because he’s got too much riding on it. Crawford’s promoter Bob Arum wants to match him up against Manny Pacquiao if he wins and looks good in doing so. Crawford wants the fight as well; because he knows a fight against Pacquiao will help establish him as a top fighter.
Terence Crawford and Dierry Jean make weight
By Chris Williams: WBO light welterweight champion Terence Crawford (26-0, 18 KOs) and his opponent Dierry Jean (29-1, 20 KOs), from the lightweight division, both made weight on Friday for their fight this Saturday night at the CenturyLink Center, in Omaha, Nebraska. Both Crawford and Jean came in at 140lbs.
Arum: Pacquiao will decide if he wants Crawford or not

By Chris Williams: Top Rank promoter Bob Arum says Manny Pacquiao will be watching this Saturday’s fight between WBO light welterweight champion Terence Crawford (26-0, 18 KOs) and Dierry Jean (29-1, 20 KOs), and will make the decision himself if he wants to fight Crawford or not. Arum believes that Crawford can increase his chances for a fight against Pacquiao if he wins and performs well. The fight will be televised on HBO Championship Boxing.
Arum says it’s Pacquiao’s decision whether he wants to face Crawford or not, but a lot of boxing fans believe that Arum will be the one that will make the decision about who he’ll be fighting.
Crawford needs to shine against Jean to stay in Pacquiao sweepstakes
By Chris Williams: WBO light welterweight champ Terence Crawford (26-0, 18 KOs) will be making his first defense of his WBO title on HBO this Saturday night against the very beatable Dierry Jean (29-1, 20 KOs) at CenturyLink Center, in Omaha, Nebraska.
This is a straight up mismatch just like Crawford’s recent fight for the vacant WBO 140lb title against Thomas Dulorme last April in Arlington, Texas. It being a mismatch is kind of what Crawford needs right now because he needs to really shine in order to stay alive in the Manny Pacquiao sweepstakes.
Terence Crawford vs. Dierry Jean a done deal for October 24th on HBO in Omaha, Nebraska
By Chris Williams: Newly crowned WBO light welterweight champion Terence Crawford (26-0, 18 KOs) has a mismatch scheduled against 33-year-old Dierry Jean (29-1, 20 KOs) on October 24th in Omaha, Nebraska on HBO Championship Boxing.
It’s not a good match-up because the little 5’6” Dierry Jean isn’t even ranked in the top 15 by the World Boxing Organization. He’s ranked at 135 at #8 IBF, #11 WBO, but not in the 140lb division, which is where Crawford will be making his defense of his WBO light welterweight title.
