By Jim Dower: After getting beaten nearly senseless by Manny Pacquiao in December, Oscar De La Hoya (39-6, 30 KOs) is contemplating hanging up the gloves for good. After 17 years as a professional boxer in which Oscar has won 10 world titles, he’s finally thinking hard about retirement from the sport. His loss to Pacquiao, a bitter pill for him to swallow perhaps because he was beaten by a smaller fighter and one that he had been expected to defeat, has caused De La Hoya to back away from the boxing public out of sense of shame.

Martinez Given a Raw Deal In Fight With Cintron
By Chris Williams: Interim WBC light middleweight champion Sergio Martinez (44-1-2, 24 KOs) got a bad break in his fight with Kermit Cintron (30-2-1, 27 KOs) on Saturday night, when referee Frank Santore Jr. appeared to count out Cintron in the 7th after Martinez had knocked Cintron down with a hard left hand. However, Santore said that Cintron had gotten up at the count of nine, rather than ten, allowing the fight to continue. Whether that was so or not, two of the judges appeared to make a mess of the scores by ruling the fight as a 113-113 draw.

Margarito To Fight Baldomir in June or July?
By Eric Thomas: With the California State Athletic Commission stripping away the licenses of both Antonio Margarito (37-6, 27 KOs) and his excellent trainer Javier Capetillo on Tuesday, revoking the licenses for a minimum of one year, his promoter Bob Arum is looking to keep him active by having him fight in June or July in Mexico possibly against Argentinean Carlos Baldomir (44-12-6, 13 KOs). This would be a great fight for Margarito, one sure to interest many Mexicans who despite the controversy over Antonio’s problems with illegal hand wraps being put on him mistakenly by his trainer before Margarito’s January 24th fight with Shane Mosley, is still a very popular fighter in Mexico.
Margarito To Fight In Mexico
By William Mackay: So much for Antonio Margarito’s year-long boxing license revocation that was brought down on his head today by the California State Athletic Commission. Margarito’s promoter, Bob Arum, is already looking to set up a fight for him in Mexico while he appeals the ruling and attempt to fight it in California courts. Whether the suspension for the said illegal hand wraps that Margarito was wearing prior to his January 24th fight with Shane Mosley holds up or not, it won’t hamper Margarito from fighting through the year long revocation.
Margarito’s License Revoked, Yet Evidence Still Hasn’t Been Fully Tested!
By Manuel Perez: In a decision that I find totally wrong today, Antonio Margarito – and his trainer Javier Capetillon – was worked over by the by the California State Athletic Commission, who took away their boxing licenses for a year. I don’t agree with any of this, not one bit. Here we have the evidence, which is the hand wraps themselves, still being analyzed in the lab and won’t be ready until the middle of March, yet both Capetillon and Margarito get their boxing licenses revoked.

Just prior to that, Margarito’s trainer Javier Capetillo also had his license taken away in a year revocation due to a pair of tainted hand wraps of Margarito, in which a hardened pad was discovered prior to his bout WBA welterweight title bout against Shane Mosley on January 24th at the Staples Center, in Los Angeles.
