By William Mackay: Super middleweight Paul Smith (28-1, 15 KO’s) won a controversial 12 round split decision last night over champion Tony Quigley (13-2, 6 KO’s) to capture the BBBofC British super middleweight title at the Echo Arena, Liverpool, Merseyside. The final judges’ scores were 114-116 for Quigley and 116-113 and 116-112 for Smith. I personally had Quigley winning 117-111.

Quigley vs. Dodson: Is This The Fight of The Year?
By Jim Dower: On Saturday night, Tony Quigley (13-1, 6 KOs) came up with a shocking 12th round TKO of former BBBofC British super middleweight champion Tony Dodson (24-5-1, 12 KOs) to win the vacant BBBofC British super middleweight title at the Echo Arena, in Liverpool. The fight was back and forth action with Quigley, 24, knocking Dodson, 28, to the canvas in the 2nd round. Dodson was a physical wreck at this point in the fight, sustaining a cut on the bridge of his nose and under his left eye.

By Nate Anderson: Super middleweight Tony Quigley (13-1, 6 KOs) stopped Tony Dodson (24-5-1, 12 KOs) in the 12th round for the vacant BBBofC British super middleweight title. Quigley, 24, dropped Dodson twice in the 12th. After a badly hurt Dodson got up from the 2nd knockdown, Quigley nailed him with a left-right combination, at which referee Howard John Foster stepped in and halted the fight at 1:14 of the 12th.
