Daniel Jacobs: Mora is a stay-busy fight

Image: Daniel Jacobs: Mora is a stay-busy fight

By Patrick McHugh: WBA World middleweight champion Daniel “Miracle Man” Jacobs (31-1, 28 KOs) has what he calls a “stay-busy fight” this Friday night in his rematch against 35-year-old Sergio “The Latin Snake” Mora (28-4-2, 9 KOs) on Premier Boxing Champions on Spike from the Santander Arena, in Reading, Pennsylvania.

Jacobs’ management and Spike must believe that the Jacobs-Mora II fight will bring in good ratings with the casual boxing fans, because otherwise there is absolutely no reason at all for the 29-year-old Jacobs to be putting his pro career in reverse gear to fight Mora a second time.

Daniel Jacobs hoping Sergio Mora won’t make rematch boring

Image: Daniel Jacobs hoping Sergio Mora won’t make rematch boring

By Allan Fox: WBA World middleweight champion Daniel Jacobs (31-1, 28 KOs) will be fighting the unranked Sergio Mora (28-4-2, 9 KOs) in a rematch that few boxing fans want to see next month on September 9 at the Santander Arena in Reading, Pennsylvania. It’s anyone’s guess why Jacobs’ management choose to have him fight the 35-year-old Mora for a second time, because it’s not a fight that the fans want to see a fan except for Mora’s fans.

Jacobs already stopped Mora in the 2nd round last year, and fighting him a second seems like a pointless endeavor. Jacobs, 29, says he’s hoping that Mora doesn’t make it a boring fight because he wants it to be an exciting fight for the fans for as long as it lasts.

Daniel Jacobs vs. Sergio Mora analysis

By Allan Fox: WBA middleweight champion Daniel Jacobs (31-1, 28 KOs) will be defending his title against Sergio “The Latin Snake” Mora (28-4-2, 9 KOs) in a rematch in less than two weeks on Friday, September 9 at the Santander Arena in Reading, Pa. The Jacobs-Mora II rematch hasn’t caught the attention of boxing fans because it’s not a fight that is in demand at all, period.

The management for Mora and Jacobs obviously saw it as an important enough fight to have it televised on Premier Boxing Champions on Spike. As far as rematches go, I think it would have been far better for Jacobs to have fought Peter Quillin again if he wanted a rematch. I’d rather see the two of them fight each other again rather than another mismatch between Jacobs and the 35-year-old Mora.

Jacobs faces Mora in rematch on Sep. 9

By Allan Fox: WBA World middleweight champion Daniel Jacobs vs. Sergio Mora II rematch will be taking place next month on Friday, September 9 in a rematch on Premier Boxing Champions on Spike from the Santander Arena in Reading, Pa. To say that this rematch is needless is putting it lightly. Jacobs (31-1, 28 KOs) already stopped Mora (28-4-2, 9 KOs) in two rounds last year in August 2015 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

Yes, Mora suffered a broken right ankle in the 2nd round that caused the fight to be halted, but he went down from a right hand to the head. It wasn’t a slip. Mora dropped to the canvas after getting hit with a chopping right hand from Jacobs.

By Eric Baldwin: In a fight that few boxing fans have any interest in seeing, WBA World middleweight champion Daniel Jacobs (31-1, 28 KOs) will be back inside the ring in two months from now in a needless rematch against 35-year-old former WBA junior middleweight champion Sergio “The Latin Snake” Mora (28-4-2, 8 KOs) on September 9 at the Santander Arena in Reading, Pennsylvania.

Jacobs has openly said that he wasn’t excited about the rematch against Mora, because he would prefer to take on a bigger name. Going back to face the same guy he already beat is a backwards move in the minds of Jacobs.

By Jeff Aranow: The rematch between WBA World middleweight champion Daniel Jacobs (31-1, 28 KOs) and 35-year-old Sergio Mora (28-4-2, 9 KOs) will no longer be fighting on July 30 on the Showtime Boxing televised card. Instead, Jacobs and Mora will be headlining their own card in August or September, according to RingTV.com.

The Jacobs-Mora II fight was supposed to be the co-feature bout on the Leo Santa Cruz vs. Carl Frampton card on 7/30 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

Daniel Jacobs to fight on July 30, Sergio Mora possible

By Eric Baldwin: Last December, WBA middleweight champion Daniel Jacobs (31-1, 28 KOs) picked up a career best 1st round knockout win over Peter Quillin in their “Battle of Brooklyn” fight. Jacobs will be back inside the ring on July 30th on the undercard of the Carl Frampton vs. Leo Santa Cruz fight card.

Jacobs’ opponent is said to be the “Latin Snake” Sergio Mora (28-4-2, 9 KOs). Jacobs stopped the 35-year-old Mora in the 2nd round last year in August. The rationale behind a second fight between Jacobs and Mora would have to be due to the way their previous fight ended with Mora suffering an ankle injury in the 2nd round.

Mora: Golovkin will take a lot of years off Canelo

moraBy Gerardo Granados: Are we the Fight fans so naive or just plain stupid, to not to know, that professional boxing is a business too? In the last few days, I have read a couple of comments and articles defending Canelo Alvarez and Golden Boy Promotions CEO Oscar Dela Hoya decision to vacate the WBC middle title.

I don’t mean to disrespect pro wrestlers around the world, but pro wrestling is a quality show offered by many companies based on entertainment first and not on a real competition standard. Maybe in the US there is one major wrestling company, but there are many more regional wrestling promotional companies all over the United States and also around the World.

The main goal at pro wrestling is to offer to the viewers, an entertaining quality drama show, be it at the microphone or inside the ring. On times a wrestler might not be really skilled inside the ring, but if he does has an attractive personality and knows how to arouse the audience, then it is possible for him to gain many fans. Now, that doesn’t mean wrestlers aren’t real athletes, they also get hurt and on times tragedies occur.

By Dan Ambrose: WBA World middleweight champion Daniel Jacobs (31-1, 28 KOs) will be fighting for the first time in 2016 on July 30 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. The potential opponent that Jacobs will be facing on that date is 35-year-old Sergio “The Latin Snake” Mora (28-4-2, 9 KOs) if the fight can get made.

Jacobs already defeated Mora by a 3rd round stoppage last year in August 2015. Mora suffered a right ankle injury in the 3rd round and wasn’t able to continue fighting. Both fighters were down in the exciting 1st round of the bout. Jacobs began to dominate in the 2nd and by the 3rd, it looked like it was going to be only a matter of time before was stopped.

Sergio Mora suffered fractured ankle in loss to Daniel Jacobs

Lucas Noonan/Premier Boxing Champions) By Allan Fox: Former WBA junior middleweight champion Sergio “Latin Snake” Mora (28-4-2, 9 KOs) suffered a fractured angle last Saturday night in getting stopped in the 2nd round by WBN World middleweight champion Daniel Jacobs (30-1, 27 KOs) at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. Mora’s left leg slid out from under him when he was trying to dodge a right hand from Jacobs in the 2nd round. While slipping to the canvas, Mora injured his ankle, which was later said to have been fractured.

The fight was then stopped by referee Gary Rosato with Jacobs getting a TKO in the 2nd, even though he technically didn’t land a punch. The fight should have been ruled a no contest instead of a knockout win for Jacobs.
