By Scott Gilfoid: In yet another mismatch involving super middleweight contender James DeGale (15-1, 10 KO’s), he stopped an over-matched journeyman fighter named Sebastien Demers (31-6, 11 KO’s) in the 2nd round on Friday night at the Hilton Lac Leamy, Gatineau, Quebec, Canada.
In the 2nd round, DeGale nailed the 33-year-old Demers with a hard left uppercut that snapped his head back causing him to turn around and walk back to the corner and take a knee. Demers was then counted out after he failed to stand back up.
While it was a decent shot, it was hardly the type that I would consider a huge knockout blow. But then again, Demers came into the fight with a three-fight losing streak. Just why DeGale is still fighting this caliber of opposition at this point in his career is hard to understand.
By Scott Gilfoid: Super middleweight contender James DeGale (14-1, 9 KO’s) will continue his slow, slow trot to a title shot this Saturday night against journeyman Sebastien Demers (31-5, 11 KO’s) in a scheduled 8 round bout at the Hilton Lac Leamy, Gatineau, Quebec, Canada.

By Dave Lahr: Unbeaten welterweight contender Antonin Decarie (22-0, 6 KOs) defeated Argentinean Victor Hugo Castro (29-6, 12 KOs) by a 12-round unanimous decision on Saturday to successfully defend his WBO NABO welterweight title at the Montreal Casino, in Montreal, Canada.
By Jim Dower: Middleweight contender Sebastien Demers (27-2, 10 KOs) stopped Martin Berthiaume (14-4-2, 8 KOs) in the 5th round on Saturday night at the Montreal Casino, in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Demers, 29, making his 2nd fight since suffering a disappointing 10-round decision loss to Dionisio Miranda in August 2008, had little problems with the experienced Berthiaume, hammering him with uppercuts and hooks in every round until Berthiaume quit on his stool following the 5th round.
By Dan Ambrose: Fringe middleweight contender Sebastien Demers (26-2, 9 KOs) won a lopsided 10-round unanimous decision over former contestant from The Contender reality television series, Donny McCrary (24-9-2, 13 KOs), beating him soundly in a one-sided fight on Saturday night at the Montreal Casino, in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Demers, 28, who has seen his rankings slide in the past year in the middleweight division with his two losses to Arthur Abraham and most recently Dionisio Miranda, dominated McCrary over the course of the 10-round bout.
