By Eric Thomas: The latest big news gossip item is that Roy Jones Jr. (53-5, 39 KOs) could very well be fighting super middleweight contender Jeff Lacy (24-2, 17 KOs) in June. In an interview at Boxingtalk’s website, Jones, 40, said “He’s [Jeff Lacy] a good fighter and a strong puncher and that’s why he wants to fight me because he’s a puncher.” Lacy, 31, later said that he’s also interested in a fight with Jones. However, before that can happen, Lacy has an April 10th match-up with Otis Griffin in Tampa, Florida.

Five days before the great showdown between WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko and no. 1 contender Juan Carlos Gomez it was team Gomez who clearly won the “first round” at today’s press conference in Stuttgart. While Vitali kept repeating that he will give Gomez a lesson “which won’t last very long” his manager Bernd Bönte had to admit that team Klitschko actually refused the referee and one judge the WBC had planned to appoint for the fight. Apparently, the champion and his team are getting nervous with fight day approaching.
