Floyd Mayweather vs. The Winner of ‘The Hitman’ vs ‘Pac Man’

Image: Floyd Mayweather vs. The Winner of ‘The Hitman’ vs ‘Pac Man’By Simon Hirst: Manny Pacquaio produced one of the finest displays of his career in beating ‘the bigger man’ in Oscar De La Hoya. His speed, the way key and the tactics were perfect in a fight that surely has ended ‘The Golden Boy’s career. It proved two things, firstly that Pacquaio is both the best pound for pound fighter in the world right now and secondly, that De La Hoya cannot fight at the very highest anymore.

Image: Pacquiao - "I'm Ready To Fight Him [Hatton]"By Jason Kim: Light welterweight Ricky Hatton (45-1, 32 KOs) may not have long to wait for another big money fight no matter how things work out between Oscar De La Hoya and Manny Pacquiao on their December 6th fight. Initially it was De La Hoya who was the main one eager to fight Hatton next, but now Pacquiao has come out saying “I’m Ready To Fight Him [Hatton].”

Hatton Doesn’t Rate a Fight With De La Hoya

Image: Hatton Doesn't Rate a Fight With De La HoyaBy Scott Gilfoid: I don’t know about you, but after watching Ricky Hatton’s poor performance against Paulie Malignaggi last Saturday night, I for one, don’t want to see Hatton getting in the ring against Oscar De La Hoya anytime soon. It’s not that it wouldn’t be interesting, because it would have a certain circus-like appeal to such a fight, but as for it being a competitive fight that would have lasting value, the fight would probably fall far short of attaining that goal.

Hatton/Malignaggi Post Fight Interviews

Image: Hatton/Malignaggi Post Fight InterviewsRicky Hatton: “I enjoyed it this time much more than last time. I just came to a new camp. I’m working on some new things, me and Floyd [Mayweather Sr.] have been together probably seven or eight weeks, so it doesn’t happen overnight. I think I’ve showed glimpses of the what I can do. I think the frustration was getting into it. Paulie [Malignaggi] is even tougher than he fights and is known for his speed. He’s a lot tougher than he looks. And I think I hurt him too early in the fight. The first punch I practically hurt him with. From there on in, I out my foot on the gas and at times went back to the old Ricky Hatton.”

Hatton Malignaggi Post Fight Analysis

Image: Hatton Malignaggi Post Fight AnalysisBy Alan Thomson: It wasn’t an off night for Paulie Malignaggi. He got dominated by a better fighter. A much better fighter. Ricky Hatton erased any doubts that had been based on his recent performances by thoroughly thrashing Malignaggi, winning nine of the first ten rounds before Malignaggi’s corner had seen enough and threw in the towel in the eleventh.

The first round went to Malignaggi as he boxed and moved effectively, leaving a mouse under Hatton’s left eye.

Hatton and Malignaggi Analysis

Image: Hatton and Malignaggi AnalysisBy Scott Gilfoid: First off, I don’t consider either of these guys as best in the light welterweight division, so effectively what we’re seeing is a glorified popularity contest between former champions. Ricky Hatton (44-1, 31 KOs) has looked faded and over the hill for the past three years and hasn’t looked good since beating Kostya Tszyu several years ago, whereas Paulie Malignaggi (25-1, 5 KOs) hasn’t put in a quality performance since beating Lovemore N’dou in June 2007.

Will Hatton Call It Quits If He Loses To Malignaggi?

Image: Will Hatton Call It Quits If He Loses To Malignaggi?By Eric Thomas: Having had back to back poor performances, it’s hard to tell what version of Ricky Hatton (44-1, 31 KOs) will enter the ring on Saturday night against Paulie Malignaggi (25-1, 5 KOs) at the MGM Grand, in Las Vegas, Nevada. If this fight were to have occurred several years ago when Hatton was at the top of his game, it would be an almost guaranteed win for him over Malignaggi.
