Image: Warren comments on Khan not facing Maidana - NewsBy William Mackay: In an interview of promoter Frank Warren at The Sun, he gives his thoughts about WBA light welterweight champion Amir Khan not facing his mandatory defense against WBA light welterweight interim champion Marcos Maidana. Warren, who up until recently promoted Khan and steered him to a championship against Andriy Kotelnik last year, says this when asked how he will feel if Khan ends up vacating his WBA light welterweight:

Image: Khan may beat Hatton to a fight with Juan Manuel MarquezBy William Mackay: World Boxing Association light welterweight champion Amir Khan could beat former IBF light welterweight champion Ricky Hatton to a fight against Mexican great Juan Manuel Marquez in a fight in April or May. Hatton, 31, is reportedly interested in fighting Marquez for his comeback bout in his next fight, but Khan, 23, is also interested in facing the 36-year-old Marquez for his debut fight in the United States.

Image: The Khan-Maidana fight not a sure thing – NewsBy Nate Anderson: It’s bout between WBA light welterweight champion Amir Khan and World Boxing Association light welterweight interim champion Marcos Maidana isn’t a sure thing after all. There are reports that Golden Boy Promotions is still deciding who they want Khan to fight in April, and it might not be the hard hitting Maidana. Golden Boy wants Khan to fight an established star, someone that Amir can look good against, because this will be the first bout for Khan in the United States.

It’s looking like the 23-year-old Khan will choose to face Maidana rather than vacate his title or try to pay Maidana a step aside fee so that Khan can get another fight in between.

Khan vs. Maidana: I see Amir getting knocked cold

Image: Khan vs. Maidana: I see Amir getting knocked coldBy Scott Gilfoid: If WBA light welterweight champion Amir Khan (22-1, 16 KO’s) doesn’t decide on vacating his World Boxing Association title rather than taking on WBA interim light welterweight title next, I see Khan getting knocked out cold by the hard hitting Maidana. That’s my prediction. Maidana hits so hard that he might be able to knock Khan out, even if he doesn’t connect cleanly with one of his shots. No one will say that Maidana is the most skilled fighter in the world, but he has brute strength and power that few other fighters in the light welterweight division can come close to.

Khan-Maidana: Will Amir’s chin hold together against Marcos?

Image: Khan-Maidana: Will Amir's chin hold together against Marcos?By William Mackay: Unless I hear otherwise, I’m assuming that World Boxing Association light welterweight champion Amir Khan will be defending his title next against WBA light welterweight interim champion Marcos Maidana. Khan, 23, had done a great job of turning his career around since being blasted out in one round by Breidis Prescott in 2008. Khan has picked up a new trainer with Freddie Roach, changed his fighting style, selected the perfect opponents to fight, and made a lot of boxing fans believe in him again. The real test now is whether Khan’s chin can hold up under the bombardment from Maidana’s huge shots in the their fight.

Amir Khan vs. Marcos Maidana: analysis

Image: Amir Khan vs. Marcos Maidana: analysisBy Daniel Ciminera: After having briefly mentioned this fight in a previous article when I had only had 24 hours to mull it over, I have now been away, watched the tapes, talked it over with friends and also ran over it a million times in my head. I have reached a conclusion of sorts and the only thing which will alter my train of thought will depend on which of each Khan and Maidana show up on the night. Maidana the ruthless assassin. Show off, cocky Khan. Two punch pony Maidana. Roach’s Khan. All could deviate the fight from what I think will happen.

Will Khan vacate WBA title? What will Amir do then?

Image: Will Khan vacate WBA title? What will Amir do then?By Peter Wells: It’s looking like like World Boxing Association Light Welterweight champion of the world Amir Khan will be forced to fight Marcos Maidana the WBA Interim champion. Khan was happy at first to take on Maidana, but his trainer Freddie Roach is sounding less than enthusiastic about the fight.

If Amir let’s go of his belt then Maidana will take on Victor Cayo for the vacant title. Roach might feel Amir isn’t ready for that step up yet, but what will he do in the mean time.
