Steward Thinks De La Hoya Lost to Pacquiao Because of Weight – News

dela4323447By Jim Dower: According to an article from J. Michael Falgoust in the USA Today, boxing trainer Emanuel Steward feels that Oscar De La Hoya (39-6, 30 KOs) would have won his December 6th, 2008 bout with Manny Pacquiao if Oscar had come into the fight at a weight that was normal to him. Steward pointed out previously that as soon as he heard that De La Hoya didn’t gain any weight after the weigh-in, he knew that Oscar was going to lose the fight.

Is Pacquiao Too One Dimensional to Beat Hatton?

pac345638By Manuel Perez: I’ve studied Manny Pacquiao’s (48-3-2, 36 KOs) major fights – all three of them – in researching his upcoming May 2nd bout with Ricky Hatton (45-1, 32 KOs), and after watching all of them, I’ve come to the conclusion that Pacquiao won’t have the needed plan to beat Hatton. Indeed, the one thing that I’ve learned in watching Pacquiao’s fights against Juan Manuel Marquez and Erik Morales is that Pacquiao ALWAYS fights in the same manner each time out regardless of what’s being said to him by his trainer.

Is Moorer a Better Trainer Than Roach?

roach463445By Scott Gilfoid: I’ve seen Manny Pacquiao’s trainer give advice to his different fighters over the years and I’ve often wondered about the logic of some of the things he’s said, but in watching him train side by side with his assistant trainer Michael Moorer on the Pacquiao-Hatton 24/7 special, I now see Moorer as by far the better trainer and the one giving more sound advice to Pacquiao.

Is Pacquiao The Next Golden Boy? No, Because Manny’s Going to Lose to Hatton

pac35668By Manuel Perez: If people think that Manny Pacquiao (48-3-2, 36 KOs) is going to be the next “Golden Boy,” then I say they’re going to be sadly disappointed when Pacquiao is knocked out by Ricky Hatton (45-1, 32 KOs) on May 2nd, at the MGM Grand, in Las Vegas, Nevada. Pacquiao, 30, isn’t the one that should be facing Hatton in this fight, it should be Juan Manuel Marquez, because he was defeated by an incredibly 12-round questionable decision by Pacquiao a year ago in March 2008.

Pacquiao-Hatton 24/7 – Manny Doesn’t Look Good In Training

hatton35335By Manuel Perez: Freddie Roach made a huge mistake in letting the HBO film crew tape portions of Manny Pacquiao’s sparring in the Pacquiao-Hatton 24/7 special, because it gave me a good chance of seeing Pacquiao spar with a couple of his sparring partners and he didn’t look at all, believe me. I was hoping that Pacquiao’s trainer was teaching him things about how to properly fight, but I didn’t see anything new from Pacquiao.

Mosley Wants Winner of Pacquiao-Hatton – But Do They Want Him?

mosley45659By Eric Thomas: It comes to no surprise that Shane Mosley (46-5, 39 KOs) wants to fight the winner of the May 2nd bout between Ricky Hatton and Manny Pacquiao. It’s also not that much of a shock that Mosley isn’t interested in fighting Paul Williams right now. Obviously the big money is in fighting Hatton and Pacquiao rather than Williams, who bring huge risks for the shorter 5’9″ Mosley without the big payday that Hatton or Pacquiao would bring. A fight against 6’2″ Williams would likely end in a loss for Mosley, as he’s had trouble against taller fighters like Vernon Forrest, losing twice to him.

Pacquiao-Hatton 24/7 – Ricky Has No Chance!

hatton4534566By Scott Gilfoid: Well, I’ve now seen the 1st installment of Pacquiao-Hatton 24/7 and I’ve got say that Ricky Hatton has no chance whatsoever of beating Pacquiao on May 2nd in Las Vegas, Nevada. There was a short period of time there were I was listening to some of Hatton’s British fans crow about how great he has an all, and I almost took the hook. But, after seeing Pacquiao training with legendary trainer Freddie Roach at the Wild card Gym in Los Angeles, I can’t see how Hatton’s going to win this fight.

Hatton vs. Pacquiao: The Definitive Analysis Of The Battle Of East And West

hatton4446432By Adam Laiolo: Much has been predicted since the announcement of this fight a fair few months back. It seems that everyone from trainers and fighters to writers and analysts is giving their ten cents, and nearly everyone is leaning towards a landslide victory for one or the other. A comparison to the blowout of Thomas Hearns vs. Marvin Hagler has been made, which is a big shout. There’s so many variables and factors that can swing either way it’s hard to know, or maybe it’s nigh on impossible to know what happens come fight night.
