Cotto Says Nothing Was Said About His WBO Title Being On the Line – News

By Manuel Perez: In article from El Nuevo Dia, World Boxing Organization welterweight champion Miguel Cotto said that nothing was ever mentioned about him having his WBO title on the line when he agreed to fight Manny Pacquiao. Cotto’s father said “This guy [the WBO president] is going to try to pimp his money anyway he can. You will see. He will find someone to give him $150,000 [for the sanctioning fee for the fight], but it won’t be us.”

Valcarcel: “If a Fight is Going to be inside the Welterweight Limit, then It has to be for the Title”

pac2246By Giancarlo Malinconico: As reported by columnist Mark Vestor, WBO president Francisco Valcarcel told El Nuevo Dia that he believes the Cotto bout ought to have the WBO Title at stake: “With one or two pounds less, you are still inside the limit. We (The WBO) have the responsibility… that if a fight is going to be inside the welterweight limit, then it has to be for the title.”

What Did Pacquiao do to be Ranked #1 in the WBO?

By Manuel Perez: I’m still wondering how Manny Pacquiao was suddenly pushed to the number #1 status in the World Boxing Organization welterweight division. It happened almost over night and it pushed Pacquiao over fighters like former IBF welterweight champion Joshua Clottey. I know the WBO really wants WBO welterweight champion Miguel Cotto to have his title on the line for his November 14th bout with Pacquiao, but this is kind of ridiculous.

Pacquiao Wants Cotto Fined $1 Million Per Pound Over the Limit? – News

pac32434By Manuel Perez: Not only will Manny Pacquiao be getting the bigger cut of the revenue and having Miguel Cotto’s World Boxing Organization title on the line at a catch weight of 145 instead of the normal welterweight limit of 147, but he also reportedly wants Cotto to be penalized a whopping $1 million per pound that the Puerto Rican fighter comes in over the 145 pound catch weight that Pacquiao and his trainer Freddie Roach have set for Cotto for the November 14th bout at the MGM Grand, in Las Vegas, Nevada, according to Nick Giongco from MB.com. Pacquiao and His Critics!

pac4353434By George Guello: Let me start off by saying that the numerous articles that have been posted on the internet this past few weeks about Manny Pacquiao never ceases to amaze me. It is pretty evident that this little guy from the archipelago of the Philippines had crossed over to mainstream boxing. I would say that it is a gauge on how popular the aforementioned has become and many would concur with me. But with the glamour and success comes an opportunity for critics to lambast and do what they are trained to do, find a hole on the P4P champ’s fortified wall.

News – Hatton: “I Was Winning the 2nd Round Against Pacquiao By a Mile”

By Liam “The Boxing Expert” Santiago: In a recent interview with Sky sports news, the Manchester warrior Ricky Hatton claimed that he was winning the second round against Pacquiao “by a mile.” I absolutely agree with the big punching pressure fighter and only for that one lucky blow that Pacquiao landed, who knows what would have happened? Hatton said, “I was winning the second round by a mile until that punch landed, which is amazing given I suffered two knockdowns in the previous round. That hook would have knocked out a horse.”

Hatton: “With Better Preperation I Could Have Done Better”

By Liam Santiago: My recent claims that Hatton lost to Manny Pacquiao on 2nd May in Vegas as a result of bad preparation on his trainers part have been backed up by no other than the Hitman himself. It seems that if no one else, Ricky agrees with me and so does anyone else who went anywhere near his training camp. Floyd Mayweather Snr let Hatton sail past his peak and left him mentally unprepared and unfocused. Hatton said, “That is the only things that niggles me about the fight and calling it a day. I know with better preparation I could have done better.”

Cotto-Pacquiao – How Many Advantages Does Pac-Man Want?

By Liam Santiago: I was utterly disgusted to hear the happenings between WBO welterweight champion, Miguel Cotto, Manny Pacquiao and the WBO this week. Miguel Cotto seems to be being treated like trash. Even though Pacquiao demanded that the fight not be at the usual 147 pound limit, but at 145 instead, he still wants to fight for Cotto’s WBO welterweight title.
