Mayweather Sr: I’d be shocked if Floyd Jr. lost to Pacquiao

mayweather sr2By Chris Williams: Trainer Floyd Mayweather Sr. says he’d be totally shocked if his son Floyd Mayweather Jr (47-0, 26 KOs) were to lose to Filipino star Manny Pacquiao (57-5-2, 38 KOs) in their big money bout next month. Floyd Sr. just can’t wrap his head around the idea of son Mayweather Jr losing to a fighter like Pacquiao because he simply sees Pacquiao as a clear level below him.

It’s not that Floyd Sr. doesn’t see the 36-year-old Pacquiao as a good fighter. He definitely thinks Pacquiao is a good solid little fighter, but he just doesn’t see Pacquiao as having the intelligence, size or the power to get the job done against a talented fighter like Mayweather Jr.

Brandon Rios still in awe of Manny Pacquiao

rios78787By Chris Williams: After taking a one-sided beating at the hands of Manny Pacquiao in an arguably underserved fight with the Filipino star in November of 2013, former WBA lightweight champion Brandon Rios (33-2-1, 24 KOs) is still impressed with the skills that Pacquiao showed him in that fight.

Rios was especially impressed with the hand speed and the various punching angles that Pacquiao used to hit him in their fight in Macau, China.

Pacquiao with odd choice of sparring partner in using Dashon Johnson

pac564By Chris Williams: Manny Pacquiao is reportedly using former UFC fighter Dashon Johnson as one of his many sparring partners to help him get ready for his May 2nd fight against Floyd Mayweather Jr at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada. Johnson had a 0-2 record in UFC competition, and it’s unclear how Johnson can help Pacquiao prepare for a fighter like Mayweather.

As a boxer, Johnson has a record of 15-19-3, 5 KOs). That’s not very good, is it? About the only thing that Johnson has in common with Mayweather is his height. Even in that area, they’re still different, as Johnson is 5’9” compared to the 5’8” Mayweather.

Roach is shutting down the interviews for the 36-year-old Pacquiao until the April 15th media day. What happened was that Roach wanted a couple of sparring partners that mimicked the fighting style of Floyd Mayweather Jr. in order to get Pacquiao ready for the May 2nd fight.

Roach: Mayweather doesn’t stand a chance!

roachBy Chris Williams: To listen to Manny Pacquiao’s trainer Freddie Roach, Floyd Mayweather Jr. doesn’t have any chance of beating the 36-year-old Pacquiao in their mega-fight on May 2nd at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada. Roach sees this fight as being in the bag for Pacquiao, and he’s not worried about it all despite the fact that Pacquiao is a 2-1 underdog with the odds-makers.

Roach obviously sees some perceived weakness in Mayweather that he feels that Pacquiao will be able to exploit, because he wouldn’t be so confident now if he didn’t see some flaw in Mayweather’s game that he thought that Pacquiao could take advantage of.
