Brook: My name has risen after Golovkin fight

1-o2arena-golovkin-brook-58

By Scott Gilfoid: Kell Brook (36-1, 25 KOs) believes that he’s on top of the pile for a fight against Manny Pacquiao, Danny Garcia, Keith Thurman and Amir Khan. Brook was stopped in his last fight against middleweight talent Gennady “GGG” Golovkin two months ago, but he figures the loss to the Kazakhstan KO machine only enhanced his credentials for a big fight rather than hurting them.

Brook thinks that he should get a fight against Pacquiao, Khan, Garcia or Thurman regardless of him having lost his last fight. Unfortunately for Brook, we haven’t heard any of those fighters mentioning his name recently. They’re staying quiet about Brook. Instead, their promoters are talking about other fighters.

Keith Thurman Already Fought Danny Garcia — Kind Of

Keith Thurman

By Jaime Ortega: Danny Garcia finally decided to take on Keith Thurman. The WBC and WBA unification title promises to be a legacy fight between two undefeated fighters that encompass different styles of boxing. The sharp stationary shooter versus the explosive poignant boxer.

Yet despite all the hype that surrounds the March fourth match up, it won’t be as entertaining as Shawn Porter versus Thurman for a number of reasons. First: Porter was overly aggressive – Danny won’t be as aggressive. Second: Porter never gasses-out, whereas Danny has shown to gas-out in the latter rounds of a fight — especially against Lamont Peterson. Third: Thurman has shown the ability to control the pace of the fight regardless of the style –if he was able to control Shawn’s tempo – he will surely control Danny’s.

Danny Garcia vs. Keith Thurman on March 4 on Showtime

garcia73

By Eric Baldwin: WBA welterweight champion Keith “One Time” Thurman (27-0, 22 KOs) and WBC champion Danny “Swift” Garcia (32-0, 18 KOs) have an official date for their unification fight on March 4 on Showtime Boxing, as long as Garcia wins his tune-up fight against #6 WBA Samuel Vargas (25-2-1, 13 KOs) on November 12 at the Liacouras Center, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

That’s a winnable fight for Garcia, so his fight against Thurman is as good as gold. It’s definitely going to happen. The venue of the Garcia vs. Thurman fight could take place at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York, according to RingTV.com. Showtime boxing boss Stephen Espinoza said that’s where the fight could wind up.

Keith Thurman beats Danny Garcia says Abel Sanchez

Keith Thurman

By Dan Ambrose: Trainer Abel Sanchez says he has no problems with WBC welterweight champion Danny “Swift” Garcia (32-0, 18 KOs) taking a tune-up fight to get him ready for a fight against WBA World welterweight champion Keith “One Time” Thurman (27-0, 22 KOs) in early 2017. Sanchez notes that Garcia’s management don’t fight him enough to keep him sharp, and they match him against too many poor opponents.

Sanchez feels that it’s not possible for Garcia to beat the better fighters due to him fighting so infrequently, and against bad opposition. For this reason, Sanchez feels that Garcia will lose to Thurman next year when the two of them face each other in the first quarter of 2017.

Spence wants Thurman and Danny Garcia

spence53

By Allan Fox: Once Errol Spence Jr. (21-0, 18 KOs) picks up the IBF welterweight title in early 2017, he’d like to face WBC champion Danny Garcia and WBA belt holder Keith “One Time” Thurman to pick up their scalps and world titles to add to his growing collection of fine pelts.

Spence doesn’t like how Garcia and Thurman are making excuses for they don’t have to fight him in saying that he’s not ready for them.

Thurman and Garcia are just a little bit older than Spence, and neither of them has really done much in terms of fighting high quality opposition. Thurman has the one fight against Shawn Porter as being his only high quality opponent.

Danny Garcia will DESTROY Thurman says Angel G

garcia100

By Dan Ambrose: Trainer Angel Garcia has seen enough of WBA welterweight champion Keith “One Time” Thurman’s past fights to know in his mind that his son WBC 147lb champion Danny “Swift” Garcia will destroy Thurman when the two of them meet up in the first quarter of 2017. That’s when their manager Al Haymon plans on matching them against each other.

While a lot of boxing fans see the Garcia-Thurman fight as being a competitive one, Angel believes that his son is going to destroy Thurman to take his WBA title from him. Angel specifically sees Danny’s body punching as being a problem for Thurman, because he was hurt in the past with a body shot in his fight against Luis Collazo. Angel thinks Garcia can hurt Thurman in the same way to take him out of there.

Danny Garcia: I’ll fight Canelo after Thurman

garcia73

By Dan Ambrose: After wasting the last three years of his career fighting largely weaker, WBC welterweight champion Danny Garcia is now saying he wants Keith Thurman and Saul Canelo Alvarez in back to back fights after he gets past contender Samuel Vargas (25-2-1, 13 KOs) in their fight on November 12.

Garcia is already slotted to face Thurman in a unification fight in early 2017. What’s interesting is that Garcia is now looking past the Thurman fight towards a match against former WBC middleweight champion Canelo Alvarez. The unbeaten Garcia (32-0, 18 KOs) thinks he can beat Canelo. He says he’s a better fighter than the last guy Canelo fought in Liam Smith.

Thurman to Danny Garcia: Enjoy your last cherry of 2016

Keith Thurman

By Dan Ambrose: WBA World welterweight champion Keith “One Time” Thurman decided to get in a little dig at WBC 147lb champion Danny Garcia on Wednesday after learning that he’s going to be facing little known Samuel Vargas in his next fight on November 12. Garcia’s fight against Vargas isn’t going to be a title defense despite the fact that Garcia still defended his World Boxing Council 147lb title since winning the belt last January against Robert “The Ghost” Guerrero.

It looks like the WBC is going to allow Garcia more time before he eventually is required to defend his WBC belt. Thurman and Garcia are expected to face each other in early 2017 in a unification fight. However, if Garcia isn’t going to defend his title before that time, then it begs the question of why the WBC is allowing Garcia to hold onto his title with their organization.

Khan wants Garcia and Thurman

1-alvarez-canelo-khan (10)

By Scott Gilfoid: Amir Khan says he wants to fight for the WBC welterweight title against Danny Garcia at some point in the future after he comes back from his hand injury and takes a tune-up fight. Khan also says he’d like to fight WBA welterweight champion Keith “One Time’ Thurman. Khan feels that he should be able to fight both guys. He thinks that Thurman is vulnerable.

Khan doesn’t like that Danny Garcia was allowed to fight Robert Guerrero for the vacant WBC 147lb title last January instead of him.

Keith Thurman might sit out remainder of 2016

Thurman vs Porter

By Patrick McHugh: WBA World welterweight champion Keith “One Time” Thurman (27-0, 22 KOs) isn’t quite sure whether he’ll fight again in 2016. He says he may sit out for the remainder of 2016 and come back in 2017 to resume defending his World Boxing Association 147lb title.

Thurman, 27, will be turning 28 next month in November, and he wants a meaningful fight. However, there aren’t a lot of options for him in that direction. Unless he fights a rematch against Shawn Porter, it doesn’t look promising for Thurman to get an interesting fight. Thurman manager Al Haymon would be the one that would need to find an opponent for him.
