Bute-Brinkley: Lucian has a huge size advantage over Jesse

By Dan Ambrose: 6’2″ IBF super middleweight champion Lucian Bute (26-0, 21 KO’s) will be sporting a four inches height advantage over the 5’10” challenger Jesse Brinkley (35-5, 22 KO’s) on Friday night in their fight at the Bell Centre, in Montreal, Canada. Indeed, Bute looks almost like one of the Klitschko brothers in facing a much smaller opponent. Brinkley is going to have a really tough time with Bute’s tremendous size advantage in this fight and it’s hard to see how he’s gong to be able to overcome his lack of size and power to compete with the bigger Bute.

Bute waiting to fight Super Six winner, Pascal not in the cards right now

By Jason Kim: According to an interview of International Boxing Federation super middleweight champion Lucian Bute’s promoter by Fightnews.com, Bute won’t be fighting WBC light heavyweight champion Jean Pascal anytime soon. Jean Bedard, from Interbox, says that Bute (26-0, 21 KO’s) instead will wait on fighting the winner of the Super Six tournament in 2012. In the meantime, the 30-year-old Bute has a title defense coming up against little known contender Jesse Brinkley (35-5, 22 KO’s) on October 15th, at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Canada.

Pavlik could be fighting on Bute-Brinkley undercard in October

By Matt Stein: Former WBC/WBO middleweight champion Kelly Pavlik (36-2, 32 KO’s) could be fighting on the undercard of the October 15th bout between International Boxing Federation (IBF) super middleweight champion Lucian Bute (26-0, 21 KO’s) and challenger Jesse Brinkley at the Bell Centre, in Montreal, Canada, Pavlik, 28, is waiting for the word from Top Rank about whether or not he’ll be fighting on the undercard, according to Dan Rafael of ESPN. Pavlik’s co-manager Cameron Dunkin is on board with the idea of Pavlik fighting in the Bute-Brinkley undercard, saying “They have talked to me about a small fight in October, probably at 1698. They asked me if Kelly would be interested in fighting again in mid-October, and I said absolutely.”

By Jason Kim: IBF super middleweight champion Lucian Bute could be facing mandatory challenger Jesse Brinkley next if a fight between Bute and former WBC/WBO middleweight champion Kelly Pavlik can’t be put together. Bute wants the fight with Pavlik, as doe HBO as well. However, it’s unclear whether Pavlik and his Top Rank promoter Bob Arum will be willing to risk Pavlik against a talented fighter like Bute so soon after Pavlik was beaten by Sergio Martinez.
