By Chris Williams: Ryota Murata (13-1, 10 KOs) wore down and stopped WBA World middleweight champion Hassan N’Dam (36-3, 21 KOs) at the end of the 7th round to capture his WBA 160 lb. title in their rematch on Sunday night at the Kukugikan in Tokyo, Japan.

Murata looked bigger going into the fight and his low-volume high-power approach was too much for his Cameroonian-French opponent to endure. N’Dam struggled to keep balance and fend of the big-punching Murata, a pattern that reappeared from their first match earlier in the year.

By Jim Dower: In something of a surprise, #1 WBA Hassan N’Dam (34-2, 21 KOs) defeated previously unbeaten #2 WBA Ryota Murata (12-1, 9 KOs) by a controversial 12 round split decision on Saturday night to capture the vacant WBA World middleweight title at the Ariake Colosseum in Tokyo, Japan. The judges scored the fight 116-111, 115-112 for N’Dam, and 117-110 for Ryota.
