News – Bute vs. Andrade on November 28th; Wladimir Klitschko to Fight Chambers

By Erik Schmidt: A year after their controversial fight, IBF super middleweight champion Lucian Bute (24-0, 19 KO’s) will finally be giving a much needed rematch to Librado Andrade (28-2, 21 KO’s) on November 28th, in Quebec, Canada. Bute and Adrade fought last year in October, with Bute getting knocked down in the 12th round by Andrade and ended up winning the fight on a long count by referee Marlon Wright.

Is Chambers too Small to Beat Wladimir Klitschko?

chambers5437By Chris Williams: IBF/WBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko (53-3, 47 KO’s) will be making a decision soon as to which of his two heavyweight titles he’ll be defending next in his upcoming fight later on this year. Klitschko, 33, isn’t tipping his hand as to which fighter it will be – either Eddie Chambers or Alexander Povetkin – and is saying that he’ll make his decision sometime this month or in September.

It was thought that Wladimir would be fighting his International Boxing Federation mandatory challenger Alexander Povetkin next but it may not necessarily turn out to be the case now. Klitschko, 33, recently made mention of being interested in fighting his WBO number #1 mandatory challenger Eddie Chambers (35-1, 18 KO’s) first rather than Povetkin.

chambers5435By Jim Dower: According to Dan Rafael, IBF/WBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko (53-3, 49 KO’s) could be facing number #3 ranked IBF contender Eddie Chambers (35-1, 18 KO’s) next rather than Alexander Povetkin, Klitschko’s number #1 mandatory opponent. The word is that Povetkin’s assistant trainer Teddy Atlas wants to get Povetkin in another fight before Povetkin takes on Klitschko. That sounds like a good strategy by Atlas, because Povetkin, 28, has looked less than stellar in his last two fights, beating Taurus Sykes and Jason Estrada but getting hit a lot.

It’s good for Chambers to get the victory; I’ll give him that, because it does put him in as the mandatory challenger for WBO title holder Wladimir Klitschko for a fight sometime in 2010.

chambers5645By Jim Dower: Heavyweight Eddie Chambers (35-1, 18 KO’s) put himself into the driver’s seat for a shot at IBF/WBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko with a 12-round unanimous decision over Alexander Dimitrenko (29-1, 19 KO’s) on Saturday night at the Color Line Arena, in Hamburg, Germany. Chambers came on after the 5th round dominating the action and dropped the 26-year-old Dimitrenko with a left hook that knocked Alexander’s mouthpiece out in the 10th.
