By Dan Ambrose: Mexican star Saul “Canelo” Alvarez says he saw IBF/IBO/WBA/WBC middleweight champion Gennady “GGG” Golovkin’s fight with Daniel Jacobs (32-2, 29 KOs) on March 18, and his opinion is that Jacobs won the fight. Canelo understands that the judges saw it differently in giving Golovkin a close 12 round unanimous decision, but he still believes that Jacobs did enough to deserve the win.

Canelo and Jacobs? Why people hate Gennady Golovkin?

Image: Canelo and Jacobs? Why people hate Gennady Golovkin?

By Jaime Ortega: Gennady Golovkin has arguably become one of the most hated boxer of late, after he defeated Daniel Jacobs on March 18. Many fans suddenly turned their backs on the Kazakh boxer and forsook his victory as a robbery. The once most feared boxer suddenly became human and is now on everyone’s hit list.

Oscar De La Hoya out of the blue sky wants Saul Canelo Alvarez to fight Golovkin in September, and has warned Team Golovkin to not fight Billy Joe Sounders in June – which would make Golovkin undisputed since Bernard Hopkins retired — or Canelo won’t take the fight with Golovkin this year. Sounds like a threat to Golovkin.

Mayweather comments on Golovkin-Jacobs fight

Image: Mayweather comments on Golovkin-Jacobs fight

By Allan Fox: Floyd Mayweather Jr. saw middleweight champion Gennady “GGG” Golovkin’s fight against Daniel Jacobs, and he says Triple G came up short in that fight, even though won the fight by a 12 round unanimous decision on the three judges’ scorecards. Mayweather says he could train the 29-year-old Jacobs (32-2, 29 KOs) to do a better job. The 40-year-old Mayweather further said that he would beat Golovkin if fought him. However, when asked if he would fight Golovkin at 154, Mayweather said he’s only coming back to boxing for the big fights, and he’s only interested in one fight and that’s against UFC fighter Conor McGregor. Mayweather doesn’t see Golovkin as being well-known enough to be worth fighting.

By Dan Ambrose: Kell Brook is still taking credit for Daniel Jacobs (32-2, 29 KOs) giving middleweight world champion Gennady “GGG” Golovkin (37-0, 33 KOs) problems last Saturday night in their fight at Madison Square Garden in New York. For boxing fans who don’t remember, Golovkin beat Brook by a 5th round TKO after the British fighter’s trainer Dominic Ingle tossed in the towel during the 5th when he quit throwing punches and was taking heavy punishment.

By Jim Dower: Oscar De La Hoya has pulled the verbal $15 million flat fee offer that he had previously made to Gennady Golovkin for a fight against his fighter Saul “Canelo” Alvarez in September. This comes after the reports of Golovkin’s low pay-per-view numbers on HBO for his fight last Saturday night against Daniel Jacobs. The new offer that De La Hoya will be giving to Golovkin will be based on pay-per-view sales for the Canelo fight rather than a guaranteed purse.

By Eric Baldwin: IBF/IBO/WBA/WBC middleweight champion Gennady “GGG” Golovkin’s trainer Abel Sanchez admired the job Danny Jacobs did last Saturday night in fighting Triple G hard for 12 rounds in a losing effort. It was a game performance by Jacobs, but not quite good enough for him to get the magical ‘W’ to become the No.1 fighter in the 160 lb. division. Sanchez says Jacobs will become a world champion against at middleweight once Golovkin moves out of the division to the 168 lb. division.

By Eric Baldwin: Adam Booth, the trainer for WBO middleweight champion Billy Joe Saunders, says that he feels that Gennady Golovkin did enough to earn his 12 round decision victory over Daniel Jacobs last Saturday night. He says that Golovkin (37-0, 33 KOs) won more rounds overall than Jacobs (32-2, 29 KOs).
