By Chris Williams: Former IBF/WBO super bantamweight champion Nonito Donaire (31-2, 20 KO’s) wants to stick it out at 122 a little longer to try and capture the WBC super bantamweight title against champion Victor Terrazas (37-2-1, 21 KO’s) in October.
According to Donaire’s facebook, his promoter Bob Arum of Top Rank wants Donaire to go after then Top Rank promoted Terrazas for his World Boxing Council 122 lb. title instead of having him move up to featherweight to look for fights up there.
By Scott Gilfoid: Well, it doesn’t look like Amir Khan (28-3, 19 KO’s) will be “cleaning up” the light welterweight division like he’s said so many times in the past. After having gone life and death with the 2nd tier Julio Diaz (40-8-1, 29 KO’s) last Saturday night in winning a close 12 round decision, Khan is now saying he wants only one more fight at 140 before moving up to 147 to fight Floyd Mayweather Jr. or the other top welterweights in the division.
By Robert Elmore: The judges told Pernell Whitaker that he did not do enough to earn a victory against the more popular Julio Cesar Chavez in 1993; Mike McCallum against the more popular James Toney in 1992; Lennox Lewis against the more popular Evander Holyfield (the first fight); Austin Trout against more popular Saul Alvarez; Martin Murray against the more Sergio Martinez; Juan Manuel Marquez against the more popular Manny Pacquiao.
By Adam Mccoy: I understand in boxing critics are everywhere. A fighter could have a near perfect fight winning every round in the process but still has to answer his critics after the fight. Maybe he didn’t stick to the jab enough? He got caught and his legs buckled slightly so he now may have a glass chin. It all gets ridiculous if you ask me. I’d like to take this time to talk about heavyweight contender Tyson Fury (21-0, 15 KO’s).
By Allan Fox: Floyd Mayweather Jr. suffered a bloody nose last Friday during a sparring session to get ready for his fight this Saturday night against Robert “The Ghost” Guerrero at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada. According to AP, Mayweather was nailed by a forearm that somehow was able to get in between his head-gear during the sparring session and bloody his nose.
By Gerardo Granados: After winning a controversial local decision over challenger Martin Murray, the future of the WBC middleweight “belt holder” Sergio “Maravilla” Martinez does not look good. Local Argentinean television boxing analysts saw him lose the fight just as many boxing fans who watch the fight and this fight is a solid candidate for the Boxingnews24 Robbery of the Year Award.
By boxflavour: First off, lets get one thing very clear. Martin Murray, put in an absolutely stunning performance against Sergio Martinez on Saturday night, and won that fight. I don’t know what some of the writers are talking about, what fight were you watching.
By Dan Ambrose: Former WBC middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. feels that WBA/WBC junior middleweight champion Saul “Canelo” Alvarez (42-0-1, 30 KO’s) hasn’t yet arrived at the elite level in his career after his close decision win over WBA junior middleweight champion Austin Trout this month in San Antonio, Texas.
