Martin Murray faces Sergey Khomitsky on December 14th

murray64By Scott Gilfoid: Britain’s Martin Murray (25-1-1, 11 KO’s) was supposed to be fighting 39-year-old journeyman Sergey Khomitsky (28-9-2, 11 KO’s) on the Carl Froch – George Groves card last Saturday night, but Murray suffered an illness and couldn’t take the fight. Now that Murray is better, he’s been rescheduled for the fight with Khomitsky with it being move to December 14th at the ExCel Arena, Dockland, London, United Kingdom. Like before, it’ll be 10 rounds.

On the same card heavyweight prospect Anthony Joshua will face Dorian Darch in a bout scheduled for 6 round. Lightweight Kevin Mitchell fights Brunet Zamora in a 12 round bout, and welterweight Lee Purdy battles Leonard Bundu in a 12 round fight.

Who’s A Better Fighter: Marquez or Pacquiao?

When Timothy Bradley defeated him last year, it was an error of judging and many boxing pundits and experts became frustrated about the decision. They were worried about the sport of boxing in the near future.

When Marquez stopped Pacquiao by knockout, many critics told the Filipino boxing icon was done in boxing. After what happened to Rios last Saturday, these critics are now changing their perspectives, as if they’ve seen the old Pacquiao who was a beast in the ring 6 years ago.

Adusalamov has setback after being awakened from coma

By Allan Fox: Heavyweight Magomed Abdusalamov (18-1, 18 KO’s) has reportedly had a medical setback the same day he was awakened from a medically induced coma on Friday. Abdusalamov was taken off of life support and allowed to breath on his own. However, his temperature rose quickly and he put back into a medically induced coma at the St. Luke’s Hospital, in New York, according to RingTV.

Roach: Pacquiao says he’ll take care of Rios on Saturday

roach674By Allan Fox: Trainer Freddie Roach says that Manny Pacquiao (54-5-2, 38 KO’s) says he’ll take care of Brandon Rios (31-1-1, 23 KO’s) on Saturday night. The way Roach describes it, Pacquiao will partially be doing it for him because of the way that Rios teased him three years ago while speaking with Antonio Margarito.

In clowning around with Margarito, Rios imitated the way the way that Roach moves and talks. Roach later saw the video and he was upset about it.

Roach said via AP via ESPN “(Pacquiao) said to me, ‘Are those the guys that made fun of you?’ and I said yes, and he said, ‘That’s all I need to know,’ and he walked away. He told me he’s going to take care of this guy quickly.”

The problem: Too many organizations and titles!

Fighters who miss weight should lose 75% of their Salary

By Al Hmmiel: Professional Boxing is a sport of weight classes designated for a reason to even the matches between fighters. Granted some fighters are taller and wider and older than other opponents and but making weight is a necessary requirement to keep the professionalism and fairness of the sport of Boxing intact and fair. When a fighter especially before a world championship bout fails to make the designated contract weight he is disgracing the sport of boxing and disgracing himself and his family. There should be no excuse for a professional fighter to miss his weight contract if that fighter is managed correctly and monitoring his diet.

Hughie Fury to fight next on February 8th

fury67307 - CopyBy Scott Gilfoid: Heavyweight prospect Hughie Fury (12-0, 7 KO’s) will be held out of the ring for the next three months to heal the deep cut that he sustained over his eye during training for his fight agaisnt David Gegeshidze last week. The cut reopened during the the fight after Hughie got nailed by a hard right hand from Gegeshidze. Hughie got he victory by a 4th round stoppage, but having the cut reopened was definitely a negative for the 6’6″ fighter.

As such, his fights that Hughie scheduled for December have been canceled and instead he’ll be fighting next on the undercard of Tyson Fury vs. David Haye against a still to be determined opponent on February 8th at the Phones 4u Arena in Manchester, UK. It would be nice to see Hughie not matched against a stiff, but I guess that’s going to be pretty much what we’ll be seeing for the 19-year-old unfortunately.

DeGale defeats Davis, fails to impress

By Scott Gilfoid: WBC Silver super middleweight champion James DeGale (17-1, 11 KO’s) retained his title with a 12 round unanimous decision win over the economical Dyah Davis (22-4-1, 10 KO’s) on Saturday night at the Glow, Bluewater, Greenhithe, Kent, United Kingdom. The final judges scores were 118-110, 118-110 and 118-110. DeGale appeared to gas out after the 8th round, and did almost nothing until the 12th round.

Why does the USA even have an Olympic boxing team?

Michael Walker shot dead in Chicago

By Jim Dower: The tough as nails middleweight journeyman Michael Walker (19-19-3, 12 KO’s) was reportedly was found shot in Chicago on Thursday, according to Fightnews. He was taken to a nearby hospital where they pronounced him dead. There’s no word about who shot the 35-year-old Walker or why they did.
