Margarito vs. Mosley: A Slaughter No Matter How You Look At It

margo452346By Chris Williams: After conducting extensive research of both fighters, I got to say that Shane Mosley is going to get decimated by Antonio Margarito (37-5, 27 KOs) on January 24th. Mosley seems like a nice guy, but man he looked horrible in his last fight with Ricardo Mayorga. Mosley, 37, should consider himself incredibly lucky that he scored a 12th round in that fight because he looked like a loser to me.

Will Mayweather Hurt His Legacy If He Doesn’t Fight Margarito?

mayweather-hatton4By Manuel Perez: Still holding fast to his yearlong retirement, Floyd Mayweather Jr. (39-0, 25 KOs) has made hints at coming back soon, being mentioned to be interested in another fight with Ricky Hatton. Though why he’d be interested in fighting Hatton again, besides another easy fight and a guaranteed big payday, is beyond me. There’s nothing sporting about beating someone much less talented than you, which was the case in Mayweather’s easy win over Hatton in 2007. It’s like pistol whipping a blind Man. If Mayweather does return, most boxing fans are hoping that he’ll choose to fight the best fighters in the welterweight division, starting with Antonio Margarito.

Could Pacquiao Beat A Good Welterweight?

pac345635By Manuel Perez: Okay, I’ve seen what Manny Pacquiao (48-3-2, 36 KOs) can do against a 35-year-old, obviously shot, Oscar De La Hoya, but what can Manny do against a quality welterweight that isn’t shot, someone like Antonio Margarito, Paul Williams or Miguel Cotto? To me, that’s the real question. It’s hard to claim much of a victory when you’ve got a fighter that’s been past his prime for at least five years like Oscar, who to make things worse, had to diet drastically to get down to the 147 pound weight limit of the welterweight division, leaving De La Hoya badly weakened.

Look For Margarito To Send Mosley Into Retirement

margo535733By Manuel Perez: I’m not sure what Shane Mosley (45-5, 38 KOs) was thinking when he decided on fighting WBA welterweight champion Antonio Margarito (37-5, 27 KOs) on January 24th, at the Staples Center, in Los Angeles, California. Of all the potential opponents that Mosley could have chosen for a well-paying bout, he decided to take on arguably the most dangerous welterweight in the division in the 30-year-old Margarito. At 37, Mosley’s timing for the bout couldn’t be worse even if he tried, because this isn’t the type of an opponent a fighter of that age should be fighting.

Is Mosley Deluded About His Chances Against Margarito?

margo5685By William Mackay: Having a lot of confidence is a good thing, although income cases it can go a little overboard when a fighter deceives himself about his faded ability. That is never more the case in three-division champion Shane Mosley (45-5, 38 KOs), who will be seeking yet another title on January 24th against Antonio Margarito (37-5, 27 KOs) in a scheduled 12-round bout at the Staples Center, in Los Angeles, California.

Will Margarito Be The First Boxer To KO Mosley?

margo53By Manuel Perez: Let me start of by saying that I’ve always been a big fan of Shane Mosley (45-5, 38 KOs). I have an immense amount of respect for what he’s accomplished in his career, in particular his exciting battles against a prime Oscar De La Hoya, his domination in the lightweight division, as well as his two wins over a shot Fernando Vargas. He’s had a great career, there’s no doubting that for a second. With that said, I think Mosley is going to take a severe beating on January 24th, in his title bout against World Boxing Association (WBA) welterweight champion Antonio Margarito (37-5, 27 KOs).

Is Mosley The Best Margarito Could Do?

Image: Is Mosley The Best Margarito Could Do?By William Mackay: Of all the opponents that World Boxing Association (WBA) welterweight champion Antonio Margarito (37-5, 27 KOs) could have chosen for his next fight, he settled for 37 year-old Shane Mosley (45-5, 38 KOs) in a 12-round bout scheduled to take place on January 24th at the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino, in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Margarito vs. Mosley in Janaury – Look For Shane To Take a Terrible Beating

margo452345.jpgBy Jim Dower: If Shane Mosley (45-5, 38 KOs) was in need of a big payday, he probably could have found a much easier way of doing it than facing World Boxing Association welterweight champion Antonio Margarito (37-5, 27 KOs), whom he’ll be facing in January, with the winner rumored to be fighting Miguel Cotto in the Summer. Mosley, 27, has already been beaten by Cotto in November 2007, and his chances of beating Margarito, a fighter that is coming off of an 11th-round TKO of Cotto in July.

However, for Mosley to go from Ricardo Mayorga into a fight with Margarito seems almost suicidal on his part. Mosley looked terrible against Mayorga, unable to pull the trigger for most of the bout, getting hit constantly and tiring out in the latter part of the fight. If not for the stoppage, I had Mayorga winning the fight handily. Given that Mayorga was considered by many boxing fans to be a shot fighter going into his fight with Mosley, it wasn’t exactly confidence instilling to see Mosley struggle for the entire bout.

Cotto vs. Margarito II In June 2009 – Will Miguel Be Taking More Knees?

cotto77741.jpgBy Michael Lieberman: Former WBA welterweight champion Miguel Cotto must be a glutton for punishment, because why else would he even consider fighting his conqueror Antonio Margarito again after the last fight between the two of them. In that fight, Cotto was taking big punches, getting battered, bleeding all over the place, and taking knees as if he were bowing in front of royalty or something. Although he officially didn’t quit in the 11th round, you might as well call it that after he took a second knee to avoid the oncoming charge from Margarito, who looked like was ready to take what remained of Cotto’s bleeding head off his shoulders.

Cotto looked like a mess, blood everywhere, his face swollen from the numerous shots that Margarito had landed and looking every bit a loser in the fight. For that reason, it seems almost insane of him that he would want to risk having that happen to him a second time. I don’t care how many times he fights Margarito, Cotto will get beaten to a bloody pulp no matter what he does in the fight. He can try running, clinching or slugging, none of it will work against Margarito. He just needs to face the facts, Margarito is his master, and always will be.
