Khan sees Murray as an easy fight

By William Mackay: WBA junior welterweight champion Amir Khan (23-1, 17 KO’s) still doesn’t have an opponent picked out for his next fight which should be taking place in November rather than on July 31st. Of the potential opponents mentioned, Michael Katsidis, Joel Casamayor and John Murray, all of them are lightweights rather than fighters in Khan’s current weight class. This should make matters much easier for Khan to shine in his next fight so that he can continue to look good in front of U.S audiences and also look good at home.

Khan won’t be fighting in July, but could be facing Marquez next

Image: Khan won’t be fighting in July, but could be facing Marquez nextBy William Mackay: WBA light welterweight champion Amir Khan (23-1, 17 KO’s) won’t be fighting on July 31st after all. The 23-year-old Khan was supposed to be fighting 38-year-old Joel Casamayor on that date in order for Khan to get in one last fight before Ramadan.

However, because the fight will conflict with the world cup competition, Khan’s promotional company, Golden Boy Promotions, want Khan to fight in November instead. Richard Schaefer, the CEO of Golden Boy, is hoping to put Khan in with Juan Manuel Marquez or the perhaps Juan Diaz, if he beats Marquez in their fight next month on July 31st.

Khan could be a couple fights away from a Mayweather mega fight

By William Mackay: As strange as it may seem now, World Boxing Association light welterweight champion Amir Khan (23-1, 17 KO’s) could be within two fights of a mega fight against undefeated Floyd Mayweather Jr. It may seem kind of disappointing and sad, but that’s boxing reality. Khan, 23, is the new hot fighter in the boxing world and despite him still not having fought any of the really dangerous fighters in the junior welterweight division like Marcos Maidana, Devon Alexander, Timothy Bradley or Victor Ortiz, Khan could find himself fighting Mayweather in 2011 in a huge money fight if everything works out right.

Roach talks Alexander, Khan, and Katsidis – News

Image: Roach talks Alexander, Khan, and Katsidis - NewsBy William Mackay: Trainer Freddie Roach says that WBO lightweight interim champion Michael Katsidis (27-2, 22 KO’s) wanted too much money to fight World Boxing Association light welterweight champion Amir Khan (23-1, 17 KO’s), according to the Telegraph.co.uk. Roach said “He [Khan] fought a great fight in New York against Paulie Malignaggi. He fought the right fight. If he does take the fight [against soon to be 39-year-old Joel Casamayor] on July 31st, he needs to get back over here and get in the gym this week. I hear they were talking to Katsidis but he wanted too much money. My view is Amir is ready for anyone.”

Smith says he never got an offer for Katsidis to fight Khan from his promoters

By William Mackay: A lot of people are under the impression that WBA junior welterweight champion Amir Khan (23-1, 17 KO’s) opted to fight the 38-year-old Joel Casamayor because Michael Katsidis, the other opponent that Khan’s promotional team Golden Boy Promotions wanted for him fight wanted too much money. However, that’s not the case according to Katsidis’ manager Brendon Smith. In an article at the sportingreece.com, Smith said “I have never received an offer for Michael [Katsidis] to fight Khan, but I did have a discussion with Richard Schaefer [the CEO of Golden Boy Promotions] who would love to put this fight on.”

Casamayor says he’s going to knock Khan out dead

Image: Casamayor says he’s going to knock Khan out deadBy William Mackay: Two time world champion Joel Casamayor (37-4-1, 22 KO’s) is predicting dire circumstances for his July 31st opponent WBA junior welterweight champion Amir Khan (23-1, 17 KO’s), saying in an article at The Sun, “I am going to knock out Amir Khan, dead. Why is Khan fighting Casamayor rather than Katsidis?

Image: Why is Khan fighting Casamayor rather than Katsidis?By Sean McDaniel: Why is WBA light welterweight champion Amir Khan (23-1, 17 KO’s) facing 38-year-old Joel Casamayor (37-4-1, 22 KO’s) rather than the much younger 29-year-old Michael Katsidis (27-2, 22 KO’s)? I mean I don’t understand that move at all unless Khan and Golden Boy Promotions, Khan’s promoters, are getting Casamayor on the cheap. Other than that, I don’t understand the logic of the move. I wonder if it’s just a coincidence that Casamayor doesn’t hit as hard as Katsidis.
