Deontay Wilder is going to get knocked out by Povetkin, says Lucas Browne

1-DEONTAY WILDER-MEDIA WORKOUT-9559By Scott Gilfoid: Unbeaten heavyweight contender Lucas Browne (22-0, 19 KOs) thinks WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder (34-0, 33 KOs) will be getting knocked out next year when he defends his title against his #1 WBC mandatory challenger Alexander Povetkin.

Wilder has a voluntary defense he’ll be taking on September 26th in Las Vegas, Nevada. Chris Arreola is one of the potential opponents or his fight. But after that, Wilder will need to get down to business in defending his title against Povetkin.

Deontay Wilder says Povetkin is like Stiverne all over again

wilder5555(Photo credit: Sumio Yamada) By Scott Gilfoid: WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder (34-0, 33 KOs) isn’t too worried about fighting his No.1 WBC challenger Alexander Povetkin (29-1, 21 KOs) in the near future. Wilder says that Povetkin is like another Bermane Stiverne, a 6’2” fighter that Wilder defeated by a one-sided 12 round unanimous decision earlier this year in January.

Stiverne, as good as he is as a fighter, just wasn’t tall enough to land his hard power shots against Wilder. If Stiverne was 6’6” or 6’7”, he would have had a chance of winning, but he didn’t have the arm length or the height to connect to Wilder’s jaw.

Wilder v Povetkin will show us who is best of the rest

povetkin4543By Gav Duthie: He didn’t need to prove anything to me but hopefully Alexander Povetkin 29-1 (21) has shown he is at present the second best heavyweight on the planet. The Russian took just 91 seconds to dispatch the normally durable Cuban Mike Perez. I had Povetkin as one of my top 5 boxers of 2014 and he has started 2015 just as brightly.

It is rare for a fighter to recover so well after a demoralizing loss to Wladimir Klitschko but Povetkin has surely climbed back up to the best of the rest status.
