Mayweather Jr: The Best Ever, or The Best Timing?

floyd762222By Jon Ingram: There is nothing but recycled material going around all across the boards talking about Floyd Mayweather Jr. This is mainly because his contract is about to end with Showtime in his next two fights. Nobody but Mayweather knows rather he’ll retire or not.

I’d go as far as saying still to this date, what everybody is still waiting for, no one knows if the Manny Pacquiao fight will happen except Mayweather, but that’s not what this is about. I want you to think for a second, what or who truly determines who The Best Ever Is.

Biggest Boxing card History

By Jon Ingram: Let’s be honest, to hit the lottery with Floyd “Money” Mayweather Jr, he has to want to fight you. It’s been proven by a lot of boxers interested with stepping in the ring with him, and that they all say “I don’t know, he’s his own business man. He chooses who he wants to fight”. Everyone knows that Floyd is all about his money, (look at his nickname). What if someone proposed to him a deal that would make him happy, his fans happy, and help save the sport that he loves so much.

Pacquiao vs. Broner? Arum should make it happen

By Jon Ingram: Adrien Broner (28-1, 22 KO’s) has been calling out Manny Pacquiao, and saying he would like to fight him for over a year now. This should be an interesting fight for Pacquiao, and his promoter Bob Arum Arum should be licking his chops at the thought of a fight with Broner. Yet I read that Arum feels that Broner is not a treat to Pacquiao so he’s not interested in the fight.

Mayweather, Pacquiao, and the Media

By Jon Ingram: I know that the fans have been crying for a fight between Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao.  This is not an article to bash either one of these fighters for they are #1 Floyd Mayweather Jr and #2 Pacman, in the same weight division, and have yet to get in the ring with each other.

Manny Pacquiao: Little Man Filling Big Shoes

pac3343By Jon Ingram: Manny Pacquiao is the only boxer in the history of the sport to win championship belts in 8 divisions. Let’s save the excuses of any catch weight argument’s that one may have for every professional boxer knows the stipulations of each fight before they sign the contract, do they not? There is news of Pacquiao being a “Little Man Filling Big Shoes” to possibly take on the much larger Saul “Canelo” Alvarez if he is to get past Lara in their upcoming fight.

A lot of fans, including trainers Floyd Sr, and Roger Mayweather have said that If Pacquiao wants to fight Floyd Jr, then he should beat Canelo first. Me personally, I feel that Manny would beat Canelo just as bad as Mayweather did, but that’s another argument though.

Manny Pacquiao: He never left

pac60000By Jon Ingram: I feel that people have written off Manny Pacquiao (56-5-2, 38 KO’s) because of his recent struggles until his last fight against WBO welterweight champion Tim Bradley. I have been one to defend him when it came to his anti- fan base. Looking back at his past fights, I’ll explain why I feel that the old Pacquiao is not all that different from the new Manny. When you actually think about it, he maybe even better equipped for a Floyd Mayweather Jr battle more than ever, which I’ll explain a little better in my next article “Pacquiao better equipped for Mayweather?”

When Pacquiao was taking Boxing by storm and was the pound-for-pound king, it was because he was knocking guys out. If he wasn’t knocking guys out, he was stopping them. He had wars, and because he was the faster, stronger puncher, he succeeded. My theory to people’s perception of Pacquiao not being the same all comes from the Pacquiao/Bradley 1. After Pacquiao was robbed the decision he rightfully deserved, he felt he needed to prove extra by knocking out Juan Manuel Marquez, which was his downfall.

Pacquiao better equipped for Mayweather?

pac00002By Jon Ingram: I’ll start by saying, yes, I’m pro Manny Pacquiao vs. Floyd Mayweather. I feel that it’s only Mayweather fans who claim they don’t want to see him fight Pacquiao, that it would be a waste of time. Would Victor Ortiz, or even Robert Gurrero that Floyd fought in the past be a better competitive match then the Pacquiao of now? Let me explain why I feel that Manny is actually better equipped to face Mayweather now more than ever. Yes, even more then when he was knocking guys out.

Manny Pacquiao getting knocked out by Juan Manuel Marquez was the best thing that could’ve happened to Manny. It was a wakeup call, that he can’t just go into every fight with his head down and expect his speed and power to walk through everyone anymore. After that he realized that he will have to rely on his boxing skills, (yes he has them) for he was able to outbox a “prime” American top 3 P4P boxer in Bradly, and he out boxed him clearly two times.
