O’Shaquie Foster knocked Emanuel Navarrete down twice in the final round to complete a unanimous decision victory and unify three super featherweight titles Saturday night at the Frost Bank Center in San Antonio, Texas.
The judges scored it 118-108, 118-108, and 115-111 for Foster, who retained his WBC belt and took Navarrete’s WBO and IBF championships. He also claimed the vacant Ring Magazine title in the DAZN main event.
Foster’s accuracy and movement frustrated Navarrete through much of the contest. He landed leaping left hooks early, followed with straight punches, and stepped away before Navarrete could bring his heavier attacks into play. Navarrete kept advancing but frequently found himself reaching and missing.
The third round offered Navarrete a route back into the fight. He caught Foster near the ropes, landed to the body, and threw a prolonged combination that forced the American onto defense. His pressure was more effective when he closed the distance before letting his hands go.
Foster adjusted in the fourth, taking the initiative with body jabs and counters. Over the middle rounds, he repeatedly beat Navarrete to the punch, landing straight shots and a sharp counter uppercut while using movement and clinches to interrupt the return attacks.
Navarrete remained dangerous despite struggling to sustain his offense. He landed some of his cleanest punches during a competitive tenth round, then hurt Foster with a heavy shot near the end of the 11th. That moment gave the closing stages an uncertainty the earlier rounds had often lacked.
Foster removed it in the 12th. With Navarrete chasing a knockout, Foster landed counter right hands that produced two knockdowns. Navarrete rose both times, but he couldn’t turn the fight around.
The finish strengthened a performance built on cleaner punching and better control of distance. Navarrete’s persistence kept him threatening late, but Foster made him pay for the risks he took and left with three world titles at 130 pounds.
