Canelo returns on October 31 to challenge for the WBC super middleweight belt, live on DAZN PPV and included with DAZN Ultimate.
Canelo Alvarez arrived in Riyadh on Monday morning ahead of his October 31 fight against WBC super middleweight champion Christian Mbilli. The Mexican challenges for a belt he previously held when they meet over 12 rounds at The Venue in Riyadh.
Mbilli had already reached Saudi Arabia. Canelo was welcomed by Faisal Bafarat, chief executive of the General Entertainment Authority, with Jaime Munguia and Rafael Espinoza among the fighters arriving alongside him.
Saturday ends Canelo’s 13-month absence from the ring. The 36-year-old has not fought since Terence Crawford outpointed him in September 2025, stripping him of his undisputed super middleweight championship.
Canelo enters at 63-3-2 with 39 knockouts, seeking to regain a title at 168 pounds. He has won championships in four divisions and twice collected all four major belts at super middleweight.
Mbilli makes his first defence of the full WBC title. The Cameroon-born, Montreal-based champion holds a 29-0-1 record with 24 knockouts, having stopped Maciej Sulecki in the opening round to capture the interim belt in June 2025.
His last fight ended in a split draw against Lester Martinez. He now faces Canelo with his championship and clean loss column at stake.
