The victory improved Shields to 19-0 with four knockouts and returned her to championship status at 160 pounds.
Troy Isley defeated Joseph Hicks by a 10-round unanimous decision in a competitive middleweight co-feature that was closer than the scorecards suggested. The judges scored it 97-92, 96-93 and 96-93 for Isley, who maintained a higher work rate despite Hicks (12-2, 7 KOs) giving him a difficult fight. Isley (17-0, 6 KOs) also lost a point late in the fifth round for a kidney shot. The victory kept Isley’s record perfect and earned him the vacant WBA Continental USA middleweight title.
Ashleyann Lozada dominated Paulette Cuesta, beating her by unanimous decision in their 10-round super bantamweight bout. The judges scored it 100-90, 100-90 and 99-91 for the Puerto Rican Olympian, who used her speed and pressure to control the fight. Lozada hurt Cuesta (19-6-1, 4 KOs) early and stunned her again in the closing moments of the final round. The victory earned Lozada (5-0, 1 KO) the vacant WBA Gold super bantamweight title.
Bernice Ferreira defeated Caroline Veyre by eighth-round disqualification to capture the WBC super featherweight title while retaining her IBO belt. Referee Malik Waleed stopped the contest after repeatedly warning and penalizing Veyre (11-2) for excessive holding. Ferreira (11-0, 4 KOs) applied pressure throughout and forced Veyre into frequent clinches before the disqualification ended the fight. The South African improved to 11-0, while Veyre dropped to 11-2.
Atif Oberlton cruised to a one-sided unanimous decision over Roamer Alexis Angulo in their 10-round light heavyweight bout. All three judges scored it 100-90 for Oberlton (17-0, 14 KOs), who controlled the action against the 42-year-old Colombian. Angulo (29-5, 24 KOs) offered little resistance as Oberlton swept every round on the scorecards. The victory improved Oberlton’s record to 17-0 and earned him the vacant WBA Continental Americas light heavyweight title.
Daniel Mercado made quick work of Rahmel McKinley, scoring a first-round knockout in their scheduled four-round junior middleweight bout. Mercado (2-0, 2 KOs) ended the fight with a body shot that left McKinley (1-5, 1 KO) unable to continue. The Pomona, California prospect improved to 2-0 with two knockouts. McKinley dropped to 1-5 with the loss.
