The artwork describes the bout only as the “World Welterweight Championship.” It does not identify the WBC, display the WBC logo, or specify if Ryan will defend his recognized world title. That omission has resulted in speculation that Zuffa may be preparing to unveil its own championship belt instead.

The promotion has repeatedly discussed its long-term goal of operating with one champion per weight class. If that plan begins in September, Garcia-Benn would be a logical stage for introducing a Zuffa world welterweight title.

Instead of advertising the fight as the WBC World Welterweight Championship, Zuffa chose far more general language.
