Ryan Garcia vowed to “end” Benn, but the British welterweight answered by posting a photo from Garcia’s knockout loss to Gervonta Davis and questioning his toughness

Conor Benn reignited his feud with Ryan Garcia by accusing him of quitting after Garcia vowed to “end” him on social media. Benn responded with a photo from Garcia’s knockout loss to Gervonta Davis, turning one of his rival’s most scrutinized defeats into fresh ammunition.

Ryan posted on X, “Boxing is one on one, the reason I started boxing, no one to lean on. I’m ending you.”

Benn answered by posting a photo of Garcia on one knee during his seventh-round knockout loss to Gervonta Davis in 2023, along with a blunt message.

The exchange is the latest in a daily back-and-forth between the two, with each trying to expose what they see as the other’s biggest weakness before a fight is officially announced.

Benn’s attack focuses on Garcia’s defeat against Davis, a fight in which Ryan was unable to beat the count after a crushing body shot. Critics have continued to bring up that loss whenever Garcia’s toughness is debated, making it an obvious target for Benn.

Ryan has spent much of the verbal battle questioning Benn’s credibility, repeatedly taking aim at his record and other controversies surrounding his career.

There’s an element of ‘it takes one to know one’ to the insults. Benn has never quit in the ring, but his recent performances have done little to strengthen his own standing. The explosive form he showed while stopping older veterans such as Chris Algieri and Chris Van Heerden created the impression that he was developing into a genuine contender. Since returning, however, he has looked like a far more ordinary fighter, leading many fans to conclude they had overrated him.

That reality makes the verbal sparring more entertaining than convincing. Both fighters have enough flaws on their records to give the other plenty of ammunition, and neither has been able to claim the high ground as the trash talk continues.
