Report Claims Zuffa Boxing Wants Devin Haney Vs. Shakur Stevenson Next

Zuffa Boxing is reportedly targeting a fight between Devin Haney and Shakur Stevenson as one of its first marquee matchups. According to boxing reporter Sean Zittel, sources told him both fighters have agreed to join the promotion and that Haney-Stevenson is the fight Zuffa wants to make.

“I was also told that Zuffa, the fight they want upon signing both of them is them fighting each other,” Zittel said on his channel.

Zittel added that he was informed Team Haney is interested in making the fight, while the reported sticking point is Stevenson.

“What was told to me yesterday, and from what else I was told, was the Haneys want the fight, Zuffa wants the fight, the holdup is Shakur Stevenson,” said Zittel.

The timing of the report comes as Haney’s welterweight title picture has become more complicated. Keyshawn Davis was recently installed as the mandatory challenger for Haney’s WBO welterweight title, creating another high-profile option for the former two-division champion. Zittel claimed sources told him the mandatory designation could affect the timeline for a potential Haney-Stevenson clash.
