Benavidez’s father and trainer says his team never received an offer and remains ready to negotiate immediately

Jose Benavidez Sr. has publicly challenged Artur Beterbiev’s team to begin negotiations for a fight against David Benavidez. The veteran trainer said Team Benavidez never received a formal offer and insisted the matchup could be made quickly if both sides are willing.

“Right now, if Beterbiev is watching, their managers are watching, or whoever makes that decision, I’m David’s father, trainer, manager. Let’s sit down. Let’s make those fights happen. Those are the fights that we want to make,” Benavidez Sr. said to Fight Hub TV.

“We never got an offer. Like I’m telling you right now, we never got an offer. But those are the fights that we want. I think with all my respect, Beterbiev is a great fighter, man. He’s a very dangerous fighter. He’s one of the best right now. Him and Bivol are one of the top fighters, but those are the fighters that we want to prove ourselves and fight.”

Benavidez Sr. added that there should be little difficulty in putting the bout together if both sides are interested.

“Let’s make that fight happen. That fight could be made in five minutes,” Jose Sr. said. “Those are the fights that we want. We’re willing to give the people what they want.”

David Benavidez became a three-division world champion earlier this year when he defeated Zurdo Ramirez at cruiserweight. Since then, Beterbiev and Dmitry Bivol have frequently been mentioned among the potential opponents for Benavidez’s next fight.

“Let’s go,” Benavidez Sr. said. “We’re ready. Those are the fights that we want.”
