Bill Haney: Devin Haney-Shakur Stevenson Fight Is ‘On The Table’

The veteran trainer says discussions are underway as boxing’s long-running rivalry moves closer to a potential showdown

Bill Haney says discussions are underway for a fight between Devin Haney and Shakur Stevenson. Speaking to Champside, Haney revealed that the long-discussed matchup is already “on the table” as talks continue behind the scenes.

“What I can say is that it’s a fight on the table for Devin and Shakur with that group right now,” Bill Haney said to Champside.

Haney was asked about reports linking Stevenson to Zuffa Boxing and whether that could affect the chances of making one of the biggest fights in the sport.

Bill indicated that the parties involved are aware of the ongoing discussions and suggested there is interest in seeing the fight happen.

“Well, we know that Eddie Hearn says that he doesn’t have the money to pay Shakur or Devin, right? On that platform. So it leads us to believe that Zuffa and that team, Turki and all of those guys, want to make the fight happen,” said Bill.

The comments came as Haney continued to push his proposal of facing both Stevenson and Keyshawn Davis. Earlier this week, Bill publicly offered to fight the two unbeaten stars back-to-back, arguing that promotional issues should not prevent the matchups from being made.

“We’ll fight you first, and we’ll fight your big brother second,” Haney said while describing his message to Keyshawn Davis.

A Devin Haney-Shakur Stevenson fight has been discussed for years, dating back to their amateur rivalry. Both fighters have gone on to become world champions, with Haney becoming boxing’s youngest undisputed champion and Stevenson winning titles in multiple weight classes.

While no official agreement has been announced, Bill’s latest comments suggest talks remain active as the boxing world waits to see what direction Haney and Stevenson take next.
