Davis settled the rivalry by unanimous decision before discussing Devin Haney, Oscar Duarte, and a possible move to welterweight
Keyshawn Davis (15-0, 10 KOs) settled his rivalry with Nahir Albright (17-3-1, 7 KOs) with a wide 12-round unanimous decision victory in their rematch, winning by scores of 118-108, 118-108, and 117-109 in front of his hometown crowd in Norfolk.
Davis controlled most of the fight with speed, footwork, sharp combinations, and steady body punching after their first meeting in 2023 was later changed to a no-contest. He established the pace early, repeatedly beating Albright to the punch and building a comfortable lead through the opening rounds.
Albright had his best moment in the fifth round when he landed a hard right hand that briefly got Davis’ attention, but Davis recovered quickly and resumed control behind his jab and combination punching.
The fight became messy at times because of repeated clinching and holding, particularly from Davis during exchanges on the inside. The strangest moment came in the seventh round when Davis lifted and slammed Albright to the canvas during a clinch, leading the referee to deduct two points.
Despite the penalty, Davis stayed in command over the second half of the fight and closed strongly in the championship rounds, unloading combinations while Albright continued trying to survive and counter. Albright showed toughness throughout and made it to the final bell, but he struggled to sustain offense for long stretches against Davis’ sharper and faster work.
Davis had predicted a knockout before the fight but was unable to stop Albright, who remained durable even while losing rounds consistently.
Keyshawn said, “He liked to punch and hold. He does that. So, he was on my neck, and I got angry and flipped him over.”
“I felt like I was beating him up in every round. What really made me pick it up is that he caught me with one good shot. And I was like, ‘I’m about to beat you up now. You ain’t getting nothing else off.’”
After the fight, Davis hinted at bigger fights ahead and again discussed the possibility of eventually moving up to welterweight.
“Honestly, yes. It really was. I wanted to fight people like Oscar Duarte. I wanted to fight people like Devin Haney. I was on the phone with Lamont Roach. So, I’m calling out these other guys to make a bigger fight for my legacy. But Top Rank insisted I fought Nahir Albright, so they got it,” said Keyshawn to DAZN Boxing after the fight.
“Man, I probably go 147. I ain’t going to lie. All this making weight stuff, it ain’t for me. Like, as y’all can see, I ain’t good at making weight, but I just know how to fight.”
