Former two-division champion joins the Australia event as he seeks a second straight win after years of limited ring activity
Jermall Charlo will return to the ring on July 25 as part of the Errol Spence Jr.-Tim Tszyu undercard in Australia. The former two-division world champion is set for his second fight in just over a year as he continues his comeback after a lengthy stretch of inactivity.
The appearance will mark another step in Charlo’s attempt to rebuild activity after spending much of the last several years out of the ring.
Charlo, 36, fought just once in 2025, stopping Thomas Lamanna in the sixth round last May. Before that victory, he had not competed since November 2023.
The unbeaten Houston native has fought only three times since 2020, an unusually low number for a fighter who was once one of boxing’s most active champions. Extended layoffs, personal issues, and inactivity have slowed what had been a successful career that saw Charlo win world titles at junior middleweight and middleweight.

Main Event did not reveal an opponent for Charlo’s July return, though the broadcaster’s social media post suggested an Australian fighter could be under consideration.
The Spence-Tszyu card is one of the biggest boxing events scheduled in Australia this year. Charlo’s addition gives the event another recognizable name, although questions remain about how much of the former champion remains after years of limited activity.
A win in July would give Charlo a second straight victory and could help position him for a bigger fight later in 2026.
