Ten-round exhibition follows his majority draw with Mario Barrios and puts his conditioning under the spotlight
At 47, the focus shifts to timing, conditioning, and whether he can still set the pace when the rounds tighten.
Pacquiao confirmed the comeback in an Associated Press report, bringing him back to the city that defined his biggest nights. “Returning to Las Vegas means so much to me, and I’m excited to work with a team focused on creating a world-class experience for the fans,” he said.
He followed with the line that has carried him for decades. “I carry the Philippines with me every time I fight. The support from my country and from fans around the world continues to inspire me. I’m coming back to give them a great fight and I’m ready.”
This comes less than a year after his majority draw with Mario Barrios for the WBC welterweight title. That fight showed both sides. He could still start with the jab and fire the straight left with authority, but the legs did not hold a high pace the way they once did.
Provodnikov is built for pressure. He works the body, closes distance, and forces exchanges. Even under exhibition rules, that style does not change. If Pacquiao cannot control range early, he will be pulled into rounds that demand more than rhythm.
Here is the reality. Eight division titles. Twelve major belts. A 62-8-2 record with 39 knockouts. Barrera. Morales. De La Hoya. Cotto. Mosley. That record does not move. What moves is a 47-year-old body when combinations start landing clean.
Pacquiao has always relied on footwork and angle changes to create openings. If the feet are there, he can start with the jab, step off, and let the left hand go in combination. If they are not, Provodnikov will make it physical and test the conditioning early.
This is a name fight under exhibition rules. The records stay the same.
