Lamont Roach is excited about his fight this Saturday against WBC interim light welterweight champion Isaac ‘Pitbull’ Cruz. He’s got the opportunity to headline against Cruz (28-3-1, 18 KOs) after failing to get the win against Gervonta Davis earlier this year on March 1st.
Roach (25-1-2, 10 KOs) says he likes the idea of fighting ‘Pitbull’ Cruz because he’s someone that he won’t have to go looking for. Cruz will be coming at him the entire time, looking to slug. Roach isn’t a big puncher, but likes to brawl anyway.
That almost got him in trouble against Hector Luis Garcia in their fight in 2023. Roach squeaked by with a 12-round split decision. ‘Pitbull’ Cruz is a better puncher than Garcia, and it wouldn’t be a shock if he wins on Saturday. Right now, Lamont believes he can walk on water after fighting Gervonta Davis to a 12-round draw. But he may find out that Cruz is even tougher because he doesn’t let up the way Tank does.

“What better way to end the year out than with a bang. I think ‘Pitbull’ is great with what he does. He lives by the sward, and he dies by the sward. He kind of perfected his craft. Even though he has one craft, he has perfected it, and it works well for him,” said Roach.
