Moses Itauma says he intentionally comes across as “dry” during interviews because he doesn’t wish to argue with “fools.”
The unbeaten, highly ranked heavyweight contender Itauma (13-0, 11 KOs) is criticized by fans as lacking charisma, being characterless, and boring to listen to. Some people say the 20-year-old Itauma always looks tired, and that they feel sleepy after listening to him talk.
The Queensberry-promoted Itauma is viewed as the next superstar in the heavyweight division. He’s on the cusp of fame, but needs the fights against the top fighters like Oleksandr Usyk, Anthony Joshua, and Tyson Fury to become a household name.
“Do you know why I come across so dry in interviews? The reason I do that is because if you arque with a fool, it makes two,” said Moses Itauma to iFL TV, explaining why he comes across as wooden and bland during interviews.
The way the sleepy-eyed Itauma spoke, one could tell that he’s bothered by fans commenting on him coming across as bland during interviews.
“The problem is with boxing, not a lot of people who are in this sport know about boxing. So, that’s why I’m like, ‘You’re correct,’ because I can’t be bothered. I actually can’t be bothered to correct my opinion. Another quote. You can silence 50 scholars with one fact, but you can’t silence a fool with 50 facts.
“Even if I was to shout out valid points, you guys don’t want to listen anyway. So, I’m just doing my thing,” said Itauma.
