“He’s Not Bright”: Brian Norman Sr. Says Devin Haney Parrots Floyd Mayweather and Repeats the Same Phrases Like a Machine

Brian Norman Sr. questioned Devin Haney’s intelligence today, discussing how he parrots lines learned from Floyd Mayweather Jr. and can’t think for himself.

Same Lines, Every Fight

He notes that Haney (32-0, 16 KOs) uses the same terms from fight to fight, referring to himself as “levels above” his opponents and labeling them “C-level.”

Norman Sr. states that Haney has a “limited vocabulary” and is just a “bot,” and he says he’s “embarrassed” for him because he keeps “saying the same things” during interviews.

Bill Haney Had the Charisma

In the past, Devin’s father, Bill Haney, did much of the talking to promote his fights. Oakland, California-raised Bill was naturally charismatic, someone people just wanted to listen to. With Bill doing the talking, Devin didn’t have to sell his fights because he did all the work.

For Haney’s upcoming fight against WBO welterweight champion Brian Norman Jr. (28-0, 22 KOs), he’s done most of the talking, and it’s like the curtain being drawn to give fans a glimpse of what his personality is like. Can Haney carry the buildup himself? Thus far, I’d say that’s a big No. Norman Sr. has done most of the heavy lifting in promoting the fight, creating interest with his cutting soundbites.

Norman Sr. sees a person who has little to say and repeats the same lines; he’s like a broken record that is stuck on the same spot. Is Haney’s carefully manufactured image finally starting to crack in public?

Copying Floyd’s Script

“All you ever heard was, ‘I’m levels above and I’m going to show it.’ That’s what you heard because that’s what Floyd [Mayweather] said, and he doesn’t know what else to say. He’s limited. He’s got a limited vocabulary,” said Brian Norman Sr. to the Rize Podcast, questioning Devin Haney’s intelligence.

Devin’s Wooden Delivery

A good PR coach would help Haney by generating new material for him to discuss before an interview. Of course, that would require Devin preparing for the interview, and there would be work involved. Acting classes would help Haney appear less wooden in front of the camera, as he doesn’t seem loose during interviews. There’s a stiffness to him.

Norman Sr. Calls Haney a Robot

“He doesn’t have any sauce like Brian Norman Jr. He can’t operate without a mind that he learned from Floyd Mayweather. He’s got to go off of something he read from a book or he studied for 20 or 15 years,” said Norman Sr. about Haney. “Brian Norman Jr. has got his own mind. Devin Haney does not. He’s a f**** bot.

“In every single fight, he says, ‘I’m levels. He’s a C-level.’ [Haney] this is embarrassing. I’m embarrassed for you say s***. You got a whole career to operate, and you’re going to keep saying the same s***? They’re not bright people. They’re not smart people,” said Norman Sr.
