Brian Norman Sr. says his son, WBO 147-lb champion Brian Norman Jr. (28-0, 22 KOs) will be punching through Devin Haney’s guard, and he’s not going to be able to run for 12 rounds without being caught on Saturday night, November 22nd, in their bout at the ANB Arena in Riyadh.
Norman Jr. states that Haney (32-0, 16 KOs) keeps his head on the line and is hittable with shots. He says the reputation that he has of having “elite feet” came primarily from his last fight against Jose Ramirez on May 2, 2025. Even in that bout, he was getting hit with jabs from Ramirez.
Norman Jr.’s Chip on His Shoulder
Devin’s self-confidence has annoyed both Normans, who feel he should be entering the fight with self-doubt. He’s not shown that, and he’s downplayed Norman Jr’s entire resume. He openly views him as an email champion due to how he acquired his WBO belt by being elevated rather than winning it inside the ring.
As such, Norman Jr. comes into the fight on Saturday with a chip on his shoulder, feeling he’s got to prove himself by destroying Haney and looking like gold.
Punching Through the Guard
“Against Ramirez, he ran around the ring. When Ramirez punched, he hit [Haney]. I told Bill to fix that s***. It doesn’t matter because we’re punching through the guard,” said Brian Norman Sr. to MillCity Boxing about his plans for his son, WBO welterweight champion Brian Norman Jr., to defeat Devin Haney.
It’s going to be hard for Norman Jr. to punch through Haney’s guard if he’s going to be on the move all night, not allowing him opportunities to land. Devin’s recent opponents, Ramirez and Regis Prograis, couldn’t land because he was on the move the entire fight.
The only reason Ryan Garcia had moments of success was because he hurt him initially in the first round. After that, Haney wasn’t at 100% and couldn’t take some of the punches that Ryan landed later in the contest.
Prediction: Haney Goes to Sleep
“They say he [Devin] has elite feet. His elite feet were against Jose Ramirez. One of the less punches thrown in a 12-round fight. His face is on the line. [Haney] is going to sleep. Every single fighter he fought had taken a loss,” said Norman Sr. about Haney’s resume, built on wins over older fighters that had already been beaten.
