Bill Haney Warns: “Your Boy Is in Trouble” — Says Devin’s Power at 147 Is Shocking Even Sparring Partners

Bill Haney is boasting about how much “stronger” and “faster” his son, Devin Haney, is in training camp for his title challenge against WBO welterweight champion Brian Norman Jr. in Riyadh on November 22nd, 2025. He says Norman Jr. (28-0, 22 KOs) “is in trouble.”

Devin’s Power Transformation at 147

Haney (32-0, 16 KOs) says he’s made improvements in his strength in moving up to the fill weight for the welterweight division at 147 from his recent 144-lb catchweight fight against Jose Ramirez on May 2, 2025.

For the former two-division world champion Haney, 26, to use his newfound power, he’s going to need to be stationary to sit down on his shots. Against Ramirez, Devin was throwing speedy combinations, and then either taking off running or holding. If he is hitting harder in camp, training with Troy Isley, he could feel confident enough to mix it up with Norman Jr.

Haney vs. Norman Jr. will be meeting in the 12-round co-feature slot on The Ring IV, David Benavidez vs. Anthony Yarde event on DAZN PPV at the ANB Arena in Riyadh on November 22nd.

Bill’s Confidence Hits New Levels

“Devin is having the best camp of his life. Never seen him anymore stronger, anymore faster. Your boy is in trouble,” said Bill Haney to Ring Magazine, talking up his son, Devin Haney’s chances against WBO welterweight champion Brian Norman Jr.

The way that Haney was hurt in fights against Vasily Lomachenko, Jorge Linares, and Ryan Garcia makes it difficult to see him surviving for long against Norman Jr. No matter how good a training camp that Devin has had, if his historically fragile chin betrays him, he won’t last long against Norman Jr.

His power is on another level than the guys who have hurt Haney in the past, and he only needs to have one good moment in the fight to end matters.

“November 22nd, you’re going to get a chance to see what I just saw,” said Bill, likely celebrating the success Haney had in sparring. “Ain’t no secret. We brought in some big boys [Troy Isley and Charles Conwell].”

Facing a True Equal in Norman Jr.

Bill has steered his son, Devin, this far in his career, but the jig could be up against Norman Jr. This isn’t a lightweight that Haney will have the size advantage against. He’s facing a guy his size, but with brutal power that will make it difficult for him to stand still for more than an instant.

“Obviously, I’m moving up to another weight class. I’m stronger than I was before, better than I was before, mentally and physically,” said Haney about his move up to 147. “I’m a big guy. 135 was extremely hard to make. 140 was hard to make. 147 is more my natural weight class.”
