Moses Itauma (13-0, 11 KOs) knocked out former Interim heavyweight champion Dillan ‘The Body Snatcher’ Whyte (31-4, 21 KOs) in the first round on Saturday night at the ANB Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The official time of the of stoppage of the slaugher was at 1:59 of round one.
In the first rounds’ midway point, Itauma landed a flurry of punches, hurting Whyte, driving him into the ropes in a corner before dropping him for the count from referee Mikael Hook.
In the co-main event, WBA World featherweight champion Nick ‘Wrecking’ Ball (23-0-1, 13 KOs) defeated Sam Goodman (20-1, 8 KOs) by a 12-round unanimous decision.
In the first two rounds, Ball pressured the taller Goodman, who held his own in two close rounds. In the fourth and fifth, Ball controlled. In the sixth Goodman came back well with Ball taking the seventh.
In the ninth round, midway through, Ball rocked Goodman with a right uppercut to the chin. The action continued for the fans from the opening round.
In the tenth round, Ball seemed to have a close edge in a back-and-forth fight. In the eleventh round, Ball may have pulled it out, but Goodman was right there countering well. In the twelfth and final round, Ball would switch to southpaw, landing a right uppercut. Midway Goodman landed a left on Ball, whose eyebrow was cut. Ball came back well in an all-action round, seemingly going to retain his title.
The scores were 117-111, 118-110, and 115-113. Mark Calo-oy was the referee.
Super featherweight southpaw Raymond ‘Savage’ Ford (18-1-1, 8 KOs) beat Abraham ‘Super’ Nova (24-4-1, 17 KOs) by a 10-round unanimous decision.
In the first round, it took a minute before Ford landed a combination to the chin of Nova. In the final 30 seconds, Nova finally landed a combination and went on the attack, backing Ford into a corner with several punches. Nova did well in the second and third before Ford took over.
In the fifth round, Ford landed a left, opening a cut on Nova’s right eyebrow. Later, a cut on Nova’s bridge of the nose. Ford’s hand speed is superior. In the sixth round’s final seconds, Ford countered with a left on the chin, rocking Nova.
In the eighth round, Ford, the quicker of the two, dominates the first two minutes while Nova, the heavier puncher, tries stealing the round, taking the final minute. In the ninth round, Ford seems well ahead, though Nova had a good round, outlanding Ford, who backed up most of the round.
In the tenth and final round, Nova was mostly throwing lead rights out, working Ford, who was backing up for most of the round, feeling he was well ahead.
The scores were 96-94, 97-93, and 97-93. Mikael Hook was the referee.
WBO International heavyweight champion Filip ‘El Animal’ Hrgovic (19-1, 14 KOs) defeated former Interim WBC World champion David ‘Big D’ Adeleye (14-2, 13 KOs) by a 10-round unanimous decision. Hrgovic dropped Aleleye in round eight.
In the second round, Adeleye came out firing punches after losing the first round. Midway Adeleye landed a counter hard left hook, opening a cut on the right eyebrow of Hrgovic. In the third round, Hrgovic came back well, taking the round until the final seconds when he was rocked by a left hook on the chin by Adeleye.
In the fourth round, Hrgovic did enough to take the round, but his left eyebrow being cut is causing his eyelid to start closing. In the fifth round, Hrgovic dominated until the final seconds when Adeleye rocked him with a counter left on the chin.
In the seventh round, Hrgovic outworks Adeleye, who is always dangerous with his counter lefts to the chin. In the eighth round, Hrgovic dominated, dropping Adeleye 45 seconds into the round with a lead right on the chin for an 8-count from referee Mark Caloy midway.
In the ninth round, Hrgovic continued his winning ways. In the tenth and final round, Hrgovic tried putting away Adelye but couldn’t find the mark, taking another round.
The scores were 98-91, 99-90 and 99-90.
Super featherweight Hayato Tsutsumi (8-0, 4 KOs) stopped southpaw Qais Ashfaq (13-4-1, 5 KOs) at 2:08 of the second round of a scheduled 10 rounds, scoring three knockdowns.
In the second round, Tsutsumi had Ashfaq backing up the entire round before dropping Ashfaq with a right to the temple. Early in the third round, Tsutsumi dropped Ashfaq with a flurry of punches for an 8-count from referee Leszek Jankowiak. With a little over a minute remaining a left hook to the head from Tsutsumi dropped Ashfaq again for an 8-count Tsutsumi went right after him forcing the referee to call a halt.
Super featherweight Miky Mohammed Alakel (5-0, 1 KO) knocked out Yumnam Santosh Singh (3-7-1, 1 KO) at 2:26 of the first round of a scheduled six rounds.
In the first round, Alakel kept after Singh, who was on the retreat. Alakel did all the landing, and with half a minute remaining, Alakel landed a right on the side of the head, dropping Singh for the count from Referee Andrei Cheveliov. It was the first time Singh had been stopped.
