Fans are trashing the undercard that has been packaged with the Canelo Alvarez vs. Terence Crawford fight on September 13th on Netflix. People on social media are not interested in the lackluster undercard fights for the heavily promoted superfight at the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.
Weakest Undercard Ever?
The reaction to the undercard has been overwhelmingly negative among fans on X, who use terms like “trash,” “horrible, “Weakest undercard ever,” and “atrocious.” They view the event as Canelo and Crawford hogging the money with an undercard of lesser fighters making far less money, and going nowhere in their careers.
It’s hard to disagree with anything the fans are saying because the undercard is what some fans feel is an “abomination” that should never have been created in the first place. It doesn’t fit with what is supposed to be ‘The Fight of the Century.’
Lackluster Fights for Netflix Superfight
- Christian Mbilli vs. Lester Martinez
- Mohammed Alakel vs. John Ornelas
- Callum Walsh vs. Fernando Vargas Jr.
Turki Alalshikh needs to dump the entire mediocre undercard and start over by adding fights that fans actually want to see. The Canelo-Crawford gimmick fight for the main event isn’t enough. Being a fan of Crawford, Turki may love that fight, but fans aren’t all that excited by the matchup to make them overlook a terrible undercard that has been included.
Rework the Canelo-Crawford Undercard
I’m unsure what Turki was thinking when he or his management team assembled the undercard for the September 13th event. If he believes these are future stars that fans are going to want to see on his future card, he’s misguided. None of these guys he’s included in the event possesses the talent to make people want to watch them. They’re missing that spark.
These are not future world champions on the undercard. The closest one that has any potential of winning a world title in his career is Christian Mbilli, a highly ranked super middleweight, but still very beatable.
Mbilli would be useful for the September 13th undercard if he were matched against one of these fighters:
Osleys Iglesias
Diego Pacheco
David Morrell
Imam Khataev
Janibek Alimkanuly
