Turki Alalshikh Eyes Two Key Fights for Canelo Undercard

Turki Alalhikh is planning to add “two big fights” to the undercard of Canelo Alvarez vs. Terence Crawford on September 13th.

The fights:

  • Jared Anderson vs. Jarrell Miller: A heavyweight clash between fringe contenders
  • Christian Mbilli vs. Lester Martinez: This is a super middleweight match-up between two punchers

Mike Coppinger broke the story on the two fights Turki hopes to add to the Canelo-Crawford card on September 13th.

Why Fan Reaction Negative?

The reaction from fans on social media about the potential two-fight addition to the September 13th card is negative. They don’t see either of these match-ups as “big fights.” These are mediocre fights in the public’s mind.

People aren’t interested in seeing 36-year-old ‘Big Baby’ Miller (26-1-2, 22 KOs) fight on the card against Jared Anderson (18-1, 15 KOs).

Miller has tested positive for PEDs multiple times during the last 11 years. Many fans had given up on him. He hasn’t fought since battling to a 12-round draw against Andy Ruiz last August. Miller looked old and shot in that fight.

Last August, Jared, 25, was knocked out in five rounds by Martin Bakole. He’s only fought once since, beating Marios Kollias by a 10-round decision last February. It would be better for Turki Alalshikh to leave Jared Anderson off the September 13th card. Fans know what he’s about and view him as a hype job that got exposed.

Lester Martinez (19-0, 16 KOs) has been fighting exclusively lower-level opposition since turning professional in 2019. Martinez, 29, doesn’t look nearly ready to fight someone like Mbilli.

Christian Mbilli (29-0, 24 KOs) is worth keeping on the September 13th card, but only if he fights someone good. He’s the only good fighter of the four that Turki is hoping to add to his September card. However, it’s a waste for Mbillo to be matched against Martinez rather than one of the talented fighters at 168.

Excellent options for Mbilli

– Osley Iglesias
– Jose Armando Resendiz
– Diego Pacheco
– Caleb Plant
