Turki Alalshikh has a big event being planned for November with Jaron Ennis vs. Vergil Ortiz Jr. and William Zepeda battling Andy Cruz. Also on the card would be heavyweight contender Moes Itauma facing Martin Bakole, and middleweight contender Christian Mbilli fighting Lester Martinez.
Key November Boxing Fights
‘Boots’ Ennis (34-0, 30 KOs) would be getting thrown into the deep end right away in his debut at 154 if the fight with WBC interim junior middleweight champion Vergil Ortiz Jr. (23-0, 21 KOs) comes off. Ennis, 27, recently vacated his IBF and WBA welterweight titles due to having outgrown the weight class.
November Card [possible]
- Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis vs. Vergil Ortiz Jr.
- William Zepeda vs. Andy Cruz
- Christian Mbilli vs. Lester Martinez
- Moses Itauma vs. Martin Bakole
Presumably, Zepeda (33-0, 27 KOs) will need to come out victorious against WBC lightweight champion Shakur Stevenson. Given that Zepeda is the underdog in that fight, it’s likely that he’ll be beaten and won’t get the chance to fight Cruz in November. However, if Zepeda does win, he’ll be going into the Cruz fight as the WBC 135-lb champion.
Alalshikh’s Big Event Plans
“We are talking now about doing a card in November,” Alalshikh said. “I hope to have [Vergil] Ortiz against Boots [Ennis], [Martin] Bakole against [Moses] Itauma, [William] Zepeda against [Andy] Cruz, and [Christian] Mbilli against [Lester] Martinez,” said Turki Alalshikh to Ring Magazine for a big event in November.
Itauma (12-0, 10 KOs) is fighting veteran Dillian Whyte on August 16th in Riyadh on DAZN. He would need to defeat Whyte for a fight against Bakole (21-2-1, 16 KOs) to make sense. Depending on what weight Bakole comes into that fight, it could be an easy one or a disaster for the 20-year-old Itauma. For his promoters to be willing to match him against Itauma, they would have to be banking on Martin’s weight hovering around the 300-pound area, like we’ve seen in his last two fights.
