Christian Mbilli (29-0, 24 KOs) made it look easy, obliterating contender Maciej Sulecki (33-4, 13 KOs) by a first-round knockout to capture the vacant WBC interim super middleweight title on Friday night at the Centre Videotron in Quebec City, Canada
Mbilli backed Sulecki to the ropes, hit him with a right-left combination to the body, followed by a right uppercut that dropped him hard on the canvas. When Sulecki got to his feet, he was badly hurt. The referee, Michael Griffin, took one look at him and waved it off. The time of the stoppage was at 1:28 of round 1.

Steven Butler (36-5-1, 30 KOs) knocked out veteran Jose de Jesus Macias (29-14-4, 15 KOs) in the fourth round of a super middleweight contest. Butler, 29, dropped Macias twice with big right hands in the fourth. The time of the stoppage was at 1:33 of the fourth. The victory keeps Butler’s career going for now. He’d been recently knocked out and was in a position tonight where it was a must-win situation. Although he won, he didn’t look all that impressive. Macias landed a lot of big shots on Butler in the contest.
Arslanbek Makhmudov (20-2, 19 KOs) made quick work of previously unbeaten Ricardo Brown (12-1, 11 KOs), knocking him out in the first round. The big 6’6″ Makmudov backed Brown, 35, up to the corner and nailed him with a big looping right hand to the head that put him down face first.
The referee, Albert Padulo Jr., then waived it off. The time of the stoppage was at 1:57 of round one. The victory for Makmudov, 36, gets him back on track after being knocked out in his previous fight.
