Christian Mbilli predicts that his main event fight against super middleweight contender Maciej Sulecki will be a “big war” this Friday, June 27th, at the Centre Videotron in Quebec City, Canada.

WBC Interim Title Fight

Mbilli (28-0, 23 KOs) and #7 Sulecki (33-3, 13 KOs) are fighting for the WBC interim 168-lb title. The winner will be in a position to challenge for the full title held by Canelo Alvarez. The undefeated #1 ranked Mbilli says he wants to fight the winner of the September 13th Canelo vs. Tercne Crawford fight if he’s victorious against Sulecki.

ESPN+ Live Stream

The Mbilli-Sulecki event will be streamed live on ESPN+ at 6:00 p.m. ET/3:00 p.m. PT. The ring walk for the main event is at approximately 11:00 p.m. ET.

Mbilli, 30, has the youth advantage over the 36-year-old Sulecki, but that might not be enough if he can’t perform better than he showed against Sergiy Derevyanchenko last August. He struggled against the one-armed Derevyanchenko and was fortunate that he wasn’t healthy.

The 15-year-old pro Sulecki has an excellent jab, and he’s got enough power to give Mbilli problems in the early rounds. What Mbilli will need to do to win is put constant pressure on Sulecki to wear him down the way Diego Pacheco and Demetrius Andrade did in their victories.

Mbilli Predicts “Big War”

“I have to be careful because he has a lot of experience. He’s fought a lot of champions. I have to be focused and I have to be careful,” said Mbilli to Sean Zittel about his fight this Friday against Sulecki. “I have to listen to my coach.”

Sulecki has been in with better opposition as a pro than Mbilli, and that gives him an advantage. He’s seen a lot of different styles with his fights against Daniel Jacobs, Andrade, Pacheco, and Ali Akhmedov.

“I like to put pressure, but I think it’ll be a great fight. He doesn’t know how to move back. Like me, he’s always in front of his opponents,” said Mbilli about Sulecki.”It’ll be a big war. Pressure or no pressure, the fight will be big action for me.”
