WBC interim lightweight champion William Zepeda (33-0, 27 KOs) defeated Tevin Farmer (33-8-1, 8 KOs) by a 12-round majority decision in their rematch on Saturday night at the Poliforum Benito Juárez in Cancún, Mexico.
Zepeda had Farmer close to being knocked out in rounds two and four. Farmer got away with a lot of clinching in every round that should have resulted in point deductions. He was holding Zepeda all night to shut down his offense.

The scores were 114-114, 116-112, and 115-113. Boxing News 24 had it for Zepeda 9-3. Farmer fought well enough to win rounds 6, 10, and 12. However, it was holding, and two instances of tape repair played a big factor in Farmer coming back in the later rounds. Without the clinching, it would have been a different fight. The referee was negligent.
“He’s one of the toughest in the division because of his output. I have terepsec t for the fighter but not for boxing. How come I don’t get the advantages?” said Farmer after the fight. “I dominated the last five rounds. I can’t get the decision. I don’t what’s going to happen. I can’keep not getting the decision and getting robbed.
114-114, 116-112 and 115-113
“I knew he was going to start a little slow becaue it’s a 12 round fight, but I did what i had to do to win,” said Zepeda after the fight.
