Fury’s Secret Weapon to Dethrone Usyk?

Tyson Fury’s promoter, Frank Warren, wants him to attack the body of undisputed heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk in their DAZN PPV rematch in 11 days on December 21st at the Kingdom Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Usyk’s Soft Spot

Warren feels that Fury, 36, failed to take advantage of Usyk’s weakness in the body in their first fight. Fury (34-1-1, 24 KOs) focused on throwing headshots the entire fight and ignored the one weak spot in Usyk’s armor—his body.

Daniel Dubois had hurt Usyk with a body shot in their fight last year and had him down on the canvas for a full five minutes. Of course, Dubois is a murderous puncher, and it’s not surprising that Usyk hit the deck after being nailed into the bread basket by him.

Fury isn’t anywhere near Daniel’s level, and it’s questionable whether he would have the same success if he focused on going downstairs with his shots. In Fury’s situation, he has to try something different because he will get bludgeoned by Usyk (22-0, 14 KOs) if he doesn’t try something new.

Usyk has already hinted that he will be shooting for a knockout in the rematch, which is understandable after his success in the ninth round of his previous fight with Fury. He had Tyson out on his feet, utterly helpless and needing to be saved by the referee from being knocked out.

Final Roundup

Usyk is going to take advantage of Fury’s weak punch resistance by targeting his head with his left-hand bombs, and he’ll be loading up on those shots to finish the job once and for all.

The old Gyspy King will head for the last roundup on December 21st. If that happens, it won’t be all bad. Fury made a lot of dough in his career, with his estimated fortune of $200 million, and he never really beaten anyone other than 39-year-old Wladimir Klitschko and badly flawed Deontay Wilder.

“Usyk has a weakness that Tyson did not exploit like he should have, which is his body,” said promoter Frank Warren to TNT Sports about his fighter Tyson Fury failing to attack Oleksandr Usyk’s body in their previous fight on May 18th.

“He didn’t exploit that enough, and I’m telling you something: that will be rectified,” Warren continued. “Of course, you have [go on the attack]. What Usyk does when he’s got you like that, is he stands square on. That’s when [Fury] was clipping him with that uppercut; he caught him every time with that.”
