Lightweight contender Keyshawn Davis (12-0, 8 KOs) destroyed his hand-picked opponent, Gustavo Lemos (29-2, 19 KOs), by a second-round knockout in a scheduled ten-round main event on Friday night in a Top Rank-promoted event at the Scope Arena in Virginia.

Keyshawn dropped the Rocky Balboa-esque Kemos three times in round two to get the knockdown. The time of the stoppage was at 1:08 of round two.

“I knocked him out in the second round,” said Keyshawn after the fight. “I had no hesitation. My team and I stuck to our guns. We gave y’all a spectacular night. I honestly thought that Lemos would put up a stronger fight than Berinchyk. We’ll see what Berinchyk offers next year. A world title.

“A world title is definitely going to be next. Hey, Gervonta. Knock-knock. Since I’ve been signed to Top Rank, we’ve planned for a night like this. Shout out to Top Rank, Bob Arum. “We’re going to do bigger than this. We did 10,000 with an opponent that’s not well known. I didn’t feel any power in him. Maybe he didn’t get a chance to hit me. I can’t say much for a two-round fight.”

Undercard results

– Middleweight contender Troy Isley (14-0, 5 KO) won a wide ten-round over Tyler Howard (20-2, 11 KO) in the chief support bout. The scores were 99-91, 99-91 and 98-92.

Compared to the previous fight involving the prospect Mason, this was a dull match, with the light-hitting 2020 Olympian Isley outboxing Howard. It was Isley jabbing and hitting Howard with single shots without much in return.

Howard finally started letting his hands go in the tenth round, and it was interesting for a few moments. Isley looked worried, taking hard shots in the final seconds of the contest, but he was able to hold on to hear the final bell.

– Lightweight prospect Abdullah Mason (16-0, 14 KOs) survived two first-round knockdowns to come back to stop Yohan Vasquez (26-5, 21 KO) in the second round of a scheduled eight-round contest. Mason, 20, knocked Vasquez down with a left to the body. The referee then counted out the hurt Vasquez. The time of the stoppage was at 1:59 of round two.

Vasquez twice knocked Mason down in round two with left hooks. Mason came back to score a left uppercut knockdown in round one. In the second round, Mason staggered Vasquez with a straight left in the opening seconds of round two. Moments later, Mason put Vasquez down with a left to the body.

“This is boxing. We’re making it exciting. The prospect of the year,” said Mason. “My dad told me he was going to come out like that. It was an experience, but it was exciting. Prospect of the year, that’s me. I could push through it. I could push through anything. Two flash knockdowns. You know. There’s always more to come. We make the sport exciting, but we came out on top.”

– Welterweight Kelvin Davis (14-0, 7 KOs) defeated Yeis Solano (15-4, 10 KOs) by an eight-round unanimous decision. Davis dropped Solano with a left hand in the final seconds of round eight to get the crowd involved. The scores were 80-71, 79-72 and 79-72.

The lanky 6’1″ Kelvin stalked the gunshy Solano around the ring all night, throwing single punches, and not having to worry about anything thrown in retaliation. At the tail end of rounds four and five, Davis hurt Solano with straight left hands.

In the seventh and eighth, Solano began to pressure Davis, and had success on the inside landing some nice shots. However, didn’t possess the power to worry Davis. If Solano could Punch, he might have knocked Davis out because he looked fragile when getting hit. He’s nothing like his brother, Keyshawn.
