Ryan Garcia’s exhibition fight against Rukiya Anpo on December 30th is in jeopardy after Golden Boy promoter Oscar De La Hoya posted on social media today, saying that they have “exclusive rights” to Ryan’s fights, and they have no signed off to allow this match.

It’s unclear if the organizers of the event can get Golden Boy to agree to it. If not, the Ryan-Anpo exhibition might not happen.
Ryan and Anpo met today at a press conference in Beverly Hills to begin promoting their eight-round exhibition match on December 30th.
“Golden Boy Promotions has exclusive rights to Ryan Garcia’s fights. The organizers of this event have acknowledged as such and have agreed in writing that our sign-off is needed for this event to occur. As no such sign-off has been given, as of today there is no event with Ryan Garcia,” per Golden Boy on X.
Ryan was counting on this exhibition to stay sharp for his ring return in 2025. He’s under suspension, and won’t be clear to fight until next April.
