Boxing Results: Steven Butler Stops Steve Rolls in One!

In the Main Event NABF Middleweight champ Steven “Bang Bang” Butler, 34-4-1 (28), #160, 22-3 (12), of Montreal, Quebec, CAN, stopped Steve Rolls, 22-4 (12), #159, of Toronto, CAN, at 1:05 of the first round of a scheduled 10 rounds.

In the first round just over a minute gone Butler landed a right followed by several lefts to the chin almost driving Rolls through the ropes as he sat on the ropes out on his feet when Referee Yvon Goulet called a halt.

IBO Super Middleweight champion southpaw Osleys Iglesias, 10-0 (9), #169, of Havana, CUBA and Berlin, GER, knocked out Marcelo “El Terrible” Coceres, 32-7-1 (18), #166 ½, of Bueno Aires, Distrito Federal, ARG, at 2:07 of the first round scheduled 10 rounds.

In the first round it was all Iglesias who near the final minute landed a left followed by a right on the top of the head and down went Coceres for the count from Referee Erick Philippeaux.

Vanessa “Vany” Lepage-Joanisse, 7-1 (2), #173 ¼, of St. Andre Avellin, Quebec, CAN, won a split decision over Abril “Tina” Argentina Vidal, 10-2 (4), #170 ¾, of Cantenario, Neuquen, ARG, 10×2 rounds, for vacant WBC World Heavyweight title (though at the light heavy weights).

In the first rounds final seconds both slugged it out to the delight of the crowd. In the third rounds final seconds a right from Vidal drew blood from the nose of Joanisse. Prior to the fifth round the ring physician checked the nose of Joanisse due to excessive bleeding.

From the fifth through the eighth Joanisse had a slight eddge. In the ninth it was Vidal out landing Joanisse aat the bell. In the tenth and final round Vidal outworked Joanisse for the most part.

Referee Alain Villeneuve. Scores 97-93 twice for Joanisse, 96-94 for Vidal, 95-95 KH.

Super Lightweight southpaw 2016 Olympian and 2015 Pan Am Gold Medalist Arthur Biyarslanov, 14-0 (12), #142, of Makhachkala, RUS, Toronto, Ontario, CAN, stopped Cristian “El Tigre” Palma, 33-14-2 (7), #141, of Lautaro, Chile, at 3:00 of the third round of a scheduled 8 rounds.

In the second rounds final seconds Biyarslanov landed a left to the body and down went Palma for an 8-count from Referee Martin Forest. In the third six right hooks from southpaw Biyarslanov to the body and final to the chin and down went Palma as referee Forest waved the mismatch off.

Lightweight Luis Santana, 11-0 (5), #137, of Montreal, CAN, knocked out Emiliano “Pac Man” Martin Garcia, 19-10-1 (13), #135 ¼, of Tigre, Bueno Aires, ARG, at 1:31 of the second round of a scheduled 8 rounds.

In the first round 40 year-old Garcia was dropped by Santana with a left to the body for an 8-count from Referee Yvon Goulet. At the bell Santana landed a left that was considered low by referee Goulet who gave Garcia 5 minutes to recover.

In the second round a right to the chin from Santana and down went Garcia taking the count on the seat of his pants from referee Goulet.

Light Heavyweight Mehmet Unal, 9-0 (7), #177 ¾, of Turkey and Montreal, CAN, defeated Facundo Nicolas Galovar, 15-11-2 (9), #176 ½, of Yerba Buena, Tucuman, ARG, 8 rounds.

In the first two rounds Galovar outworked Unal. In the third and fourth rounds Unal finally started throwing punches mostly to the body taking both rounds.

In the fifth rounds final minute Unal hurt Galovar with a left hook to the body. In the sixth through the eighth rounds Unal had Galovar on the defense.

Referee Erick Philippeaux. Scores 80-72 twice, 79-73 as did KH.

Lightweight Jhon “Columbia Kill Machine” Orobio, 7-0 (7), #134 ½, of COL, stopped Cristian Gonzalez, 12-20-1 (6), #134, of Buenos Aires, ARG, at 2:51 of the second round of a scheduled 6 rounds.

In the second rounds halfway point a right to the ribs from Orobio dropped Gonzalez for an 8-count from Referee Alain Villeneuve. In the final minute again a right to the ribs from Orobio dropped Gonzalez who took the count on his knees from referee Villeneuve.

Super Middleweight 19 year-old Wilkens Mathieu, 8-0 (5), #171 ¼, of Quebec City, Quebec, CAN, stopped Patrik Fiala, 8-5-2 (5), #171, of Lovcicky, CZ, at 1:57 of the second round of a schedule 6 rounds.

In the first rounds final minute Mathieu twice hurt Fiala first with a right on the chin and just prior to the bell two left hooks to the chin. In the second round a right followed by a left hook from Mathieu on the chin dropped Fiala for an 8-count from Referee Martin Forest. Seconds later a left hook from Mathieu on the chin dropped Fiala a second time as referee Forest called a halt upon Fiala getting to his feet.
