Devin Haney never intended on fighting Shakur or Tank in 2023

Devin Haney’s old New Year’s resolution from last year on January 2nd, 2023, was posted today on social media, in which he predicted that he was going to do the following:

  1. Defeat Vasily Lomachenko
  2. Move up to 140 afterwards

What this means is that Haney NEVER intended to fight Shakur Stevenson or Gervonta Davis in 2023. Haney already had everything planned for the year. Beat Loma and then move up to 140 and win a world title.

Haney knew he was going to avoid Shakur & Tank Davis, so he was just using their names for clout purposes last year to get attention from fans but with no intention of facing either. That’s sneaky.

So, this explains why Haney fled from the ring after his Shakur climbed through the ropes moments after the judges gave him a controversial twelve unanimous decision win over Lomachenko on May 20, 2023, at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

The way that Haney ran out of the ring when Shakur climbed through the ropes made it obvious that he wasn’t going to fight him in 2023, as he already had a pre-planned path for the year.

It looks bad that Haney had the public into thinking he was interested in fighting Shakur and Gervonta when he already had his entire year mapped out, with his intentions of facing Loma and then going up to 140 to pick up a belt, which he won from the 35-year-old Regis Prograis last December. Fans actually believed that Haney gave Shakur a real offer.

It doesn’t look like fans will ever get to see a fight between Gervonta and Haney, because Devin and his dad, Bill, won’t agree to any weight stipulations that Tank wants.

He’s not going to agree to fight Haney at 140 if he knows he’s going to rehydrate to 165 lbs again and come into the ring looking as big as Canelo Alvarez.
